If it’s what you want and in your budget (my experience has also been that the emerald cuts are more expensive….at Tiffany anyway) I’d say something.  My fiance and I were very verbal on the ring I wanted.  He said, “you’re the one wearing it for the rest of your life I want you to love it.”

asafo117:  emerald cuts are cheaper, but like they said, sometimes you have to get a better quality than you would if you were to get a round brilliant. However, if you’re getting a 1ct or less, you can still get an eye clean si1 and you won’t notice any flaws unless you have 10x magnifier lol. It’s all about demand, and round brilliant is still on top.

I went back and forth so many times on the kind of ring I wanted. we left stores so discouraged I could not find a ring I liked to save my life. I hated everything.

Finally I took myself out of the picture, told him to get whatever he wanted, and I could not be happier. I love my ring and you will too

If you plan on telling him about your new ring choice I would wait until you first try on an emerald diamond.  You may or may not like how it looks on your hand.  At least you KNOW that you like the round brilliant as you have tried it on already.  I love looking at cushion cuts online and on other people but once I tried one on it was a no go for me.  The round was the right cut for me.  I would have never known without trying it on.

I have flip flopped a ton, too. Picked a ring, said “this is it!” But then the next day say “no wait, *this* is it”. I still feel like I second guess myself sometimes. If you guys have picked a ring, and he knows that was your favourite, and he has saved for it, and planned to propose with it… I would roll with it.

If you love the look of emerald cuts (I know I do!), you could find a wedding band with square or emerald cuts to give those sharp lines and steps. I think that would look beautiful with a channel-set engagement ring.

asafo117:  tacori… Drool… Lol. If I were you, I’d talk to your partner. Just ask something like, what if I choose a different ring? Since you don’t really know if he got it yet right? Maybe he’ll say something. as long as you don’t say “I don’t like the first ring anymore” then I think it’s fine to talk to him about it.

oh, and just be sweet and all. They usually can’t get mad to their lady thay way lol.

I tried on that Tacori ring. For some reason I didn’t love it nearly as much as I thought I would. For months I was sure I wanted an Emerald cut, but I was a little underwhelmed. If you’re wanting sparkle you should definitely stick with the round. That ring is very pretty but something about it just didn’t take my breath away like I thought it would.
