- Wedding: June 2016
Have any brides had something happen that completely made you switch gears? I’m from a different country (England) to the fiancé, who’s American, and so much of my family is unable to make it over, and us marrying over in the UK would not be an easy option. My parents live here too, but my grandparents won’t be able to come over for the wedding due to the stress of flying. I’ve found this difficult because I’m very close to them and they helped raised me, but to make it harder we just found out that my grandmother is not doing so well and it feels as though the Earth has turned on its axis – we were prepared for my grandfather’s declining health but my grandma has always been the trooper! As soon as I found out, I honestly no longer cared about having a wedding day. It’s completely shifted my perception on what’s important and all I want to do is elope. I’ve spoken to my parents about the feelings and they’ve had similar reactions. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I love my fiancé and cannot wait to be his wife, but the aspect of the wedding is now falling flat for me.
