I am kind of considering changing dresses for the reception. My dress is mermaid/trumpet and if it fits how it is supposed to fit to look amazing, I think that it will not be super comfy to sit in for dinner and not allow me to move how I would want to move on the dance floor.
However, I LOVE my dress. It’s incredibly beautiful, and I think that it looks possibly even more beautiful when it is bustled. Its also the most expensive single peice of clothing that I will probably ever own–and I only get to wear it once, so I think I should maximize the amount of time that I get to wear it. I feel like NOT doing that will be seen by the fam (and possibly fiance) as a waste of money. (Dress was almost $1000) If I changed I would probably change into a short dress in my wedding colors–either purple or dark fuchsia–so it would likely be something that I would wear again (although I am loving this white dress with ostrich feathers!).
What do other people think? To change or not to change? Why?

You should talk it over with your fiance to see what he thinks. I am going to wear my gown the entire time. It will be the only time I will ever wear it, and like you stated “Its also the most expensive single peice of clothing that I will probably ever own”. I definately want to get my moneys worth. I will have mine bustled for the reception.

I love my wedding dress, although it’s not here yet (it should arrive any day now), and it was not cheap. Actually it’s going to be the most expensive dress I will probably ever wear, so I can’t imagine changing into another one.

I am changing into a white cocktail dress for our after party, though I will wear my wedding dress for our brunch reception.

I’m keeping the dress on all night, because, well heck, it’s the only time I’ll get to wear it! I want to get my money’s worth out of that beautiful sucker!

I’m going to wear mine all night – wedding, reception, after party – the whole deal. I will, however, be changing shoes!

Yeah….definitely feeling better about wearing it all night. I might be changing into sneakers underneath, however! LOL

paying way to much for a dress to only keep it on for 20 mins. It may even try to wear it around the kitchen every now and then 🙂

I’m definitely wearing mine all night. It’s the first and only time I’ll get to wear a wedding dress and I might even sleep in it!

It’s too expensive to only wear for an hour =]. But mine was comfy!

I loved my wedding dress so much, there was no way I was taking it off! I was bummed that I only got to wear it once, so I wanted to have it on all night!

I’ve seen a picture of you in your dress and i say NO. I think it would almost take away from the bridal experience, unless you change into a fun white dress instead of the matching the wedding colors, or else you’ll sort of look too bridal party-ey to me… so with that said, nah keep your fantastic dress on!!! besides you’ll be dancing too much to sit 😀

Before I found my dress I loved the idea of getting a Dolly Couture dress for the reception… but after finding my dream dress I can’t imagine ever taking it off! I plan on wearing it to work daily for a couple weeks following my honeymoon lol

I agree with the earlier posts-not going to take it off!
