Hi bees! It’s been forever since I’ve been on here. I’ve been a busy bee planning my wedding (10 weeks away!) and I have a somewhat interesting question. I’m not so sure that I’m digging the way my name is going to sound once I marry. I’m really really considering changing my middle name and my last name but my fiance is not a hundred percent on board. I’m going to write down the two names here and without telling you which one is my real middle name, I just want to see which one you all favor.
Sarah April Vargas
Sarah Sofia Vargas
Thanks for your feedback!

I like the alliteration with Sarah Sofia.

It’s a middle name. Who cares?

I mean….. alliteration is always lovely sounding. I can think of a name or two I prefer with mine, but I wouldn’t want to change mine… because it’s mine.
So I’m team original middle name. But yes, Sarah Sophia sounds lovely.

When I was changing my last name I considered changing my middle name to a long term nickname that a lot of people know me by that starts with the same letter as my current middle name, but it was a lot more steps in NC for me to do that, and cost more than I expected. I’d look into it and see if it’s worth the effort to you! I like Sofia!

I am thinking of doing the same thing!!!! My middle name ends with a vowel sound, and FI’s last name is Morris, so the end/beginning would blend like “Nemo”….. I was like, now way.
The way I see it, I was given my first, middle and last names at birth. Then, when I marry, I’ll take someone else’s name. I want to be able to CHOOSE my own middle. 🙂

Ugh, I feel that. I hate my ENTIRE name. First, middle, and last. Can’t wait to get married. Might just change my entire identity lol!!
I like Sarah April.

svargas : Sarah Sophia!
pinkgold2018 : She obviously cares, since she’s asking. If you don’t have anything respectful to contribute, just move along.

Thank you ladies!! Sarah Sofia is what I want too! 😊

hopefulfuturemrs : You’re right – my post sounds insensitive. Sorry, OP! I said what I said because I’ve never known anyone to say their full name with middle name, unless they actually go by a middle name.

I’m dropping my first name. I go by my middle already and it sounds weird to switch them around. I’m taking my mom’s middle as my new middle. If you want to change your name, now is the perfect time to do it!

I also like the alliteration, and then you can call yourself S.S. Vargas and pretend you’re a ship! (Don’t mind me, I have really a weird sense of humor.)

Sarah Sofia Vargas sounds Hispanic, whereas Sarah April Vargas sounds like a blue-eyed blonde who married a Hispanic guy. Maybe that’s neither here nor there, and maybe it’s just me. But I think it’s worth mentioning that I get a very different vibe from the name when the middle is changed.
