I’m getting married next month. We got our marriage license 2 days ago. Both of us had to sign it with our (current) full names.
After the wedding, I want to drop my maiden name, and keep my middle name. I had always thought that the license would have a place where I would put what I wanted my legal married name to be, but there isn’t.
I hope Florida doesn’t just assume I want to be [first][maiden name][his last name].

I didn’t have to put my new married name on the license either. I went to the Social Security adminstration first and they asked how I wanted my name to be now and that was it. Then I took my new card once I got it to the DMV for my new license.

Yeah when I changed my name it was easy peasy. They ask you what you want, you tell em, they enter it in the computer, and done! They send you the new SSN card and then you take that everywhere, and they use that SSN card to enter your name everywhere else.

Thanks for the replies! I was hoping it would be that simple.
