My Darling Husband and I were high school sweethearts, By the time we were in college, we were ready to get married. I guess you could say I was in a rush to get engaged, yep guilty. I don’t regret marrying him so soon, but I regret rushing into the ring decision. I feel like the ring my 18 year old self picked out just isn’t “me.” I actually found it and picked it out! But I settled because we found a great deal and it was what we could afford. I would like to keep the same ring material. Since the band is intertwined with the ering, it’s kind of complicated. I’d love a pink sapphire with a halo, and the marquis I have now gets hung on everything. He says he is fine with us switching out the center stone and rearranging the setting some, but….am I being a brat?

I would do it if lets say you had a big life event – maybe renew your vows, get a job promotion, come into money, kids finally leave the house, have debt paid off, a big anniversary etc.
I realize you’re not happy with it now but just because you want to shouldn’t be a reason. If you’ve got the money then okay but unless you’ve saved for it and have it in the budget I would wait until you find something you’ll like forever. Not just the next few years.

If he’s okay with it, that’s all that really matters. Can you afford to upgrade? Your profile says you are 19, which means you haven’t had the ring that long and you are still in school. I’d probably wait until you’re out of college–double bonus, ya know? =]

I don’t think you’re being a brat, but I would suggest holding off on getting the upgrade just a little longer. Take time to look around at all different styles and make sure that you really get the ring of your dreams this time 🙂
