I’m starting to get very nervous about my venue. I was emailing the events coordinator and she hadn’t been responding. I called and left messages and after 2 weeks found out that she no longer works there. That kind of threw me off because we had talked a lot and now I’m not sure what they have on the official record. Luckily, most of our communication was by email so I have written records.
Another issue is the general chaos in the lobby. (It’s at a hotel) A few months ago I went see a wedding and there was another event going on. A large group of Hasidic Jewish people rented out the conference room. My issue was that there were at least 50 people who were using the lobby to sit around in. Most of these people were children who were screaming and running around. The poor staff really couldn’t do much since the mothers were there and just acting like everything is normal. Last night I went again to see a wedding, and I saw a very similar situation. The lobby was so crowded and chaotic. The kids again were running around and going near where the wedding cocktail hour was being held. My guests would also need to go through the lobby to get to the bathroom. This was a major red flag for me. If I am spending $12,000 on their ballroom, having the most guests, I would expect that my event would not have to complete with kids running around and general crowded chaos. How do I approach this with my venue? I would have been so upset if it was my wedding.
