Ugh – charger plates.
I have been scouring the “internets” trying to find nice affordable charger plates.
They have lots of Gold ones out there, but only one place i found sells brown ones.
my table has gold/champagne colored overlays on it, i am worried if i get gold it will clash with the gold of the overlays. my contrasting color is brown though, so i was hoping to find brown.
Should i keep trying to find brown ones? or start looking at the gold chargers and say to heck with it?
heres a picture of the overlays:

buy cheap gold ones and prime and paint. I know it’s a lot of work but to me it’s waaay worth it to get what you want. Good luck!

It’s hard to tell from your picture what the overlays look like, but I don’t think it is worth the energy to find the brown charger plates. Gold will be just fine.

I would go with the gold ones. Our table cloths are white with gold embroidery and we are using gold chargers. I think the brown would blend in too much with your tablecloth. You could use gold chargers and brown napkins and chair sashes.

We were able to find brown ones at Hobby Lobby. You can order them on their website and they’ll show up all perfect packaged to transport to your wedding. They were $1.99 each. Too bad our weddings are so close, we could’ve done double duty! The picture of them on the Hobby Lobby website does not do them justice, in the slightest. Here’s a picture I took, which doesn’t do the best job demonstrating the boldness in color. If i had to describe them, they look like the way root beer bottles look in the sunlight.

Also, let me know if you want me to take more pictures for you in different light or with a plate on top to give you a better idea. I know what a pain it is to try and get an ‘idea’ of what something might be like on the computer and it might save you a trip to hobby lobby. 🙂

Your linens look almost bronze in the photo rather than gold. If that’s the case, I think the hobby lobby ones from uskadelig would look good with it because they seem to match really well (based on the photos).

@Uskadelig: do you have like a white/ivory plate with the charger picture? And do you think they could work with ivory linens?
our table setup will be the regular banquet round tables with cotton ivory linens to the floor, the gold/champagne overlay (it looks like antique gold – like old picture frames) in crinkle satin that will cover the table top and corners will hang almost to the floor, the centerpieces below, with luminary table numbers beside them.

Hey! The chargers are at my mom’s house, so I’ll try and get a picture the next time I go over there. I think they would look great with ivory and gold linens. We’re doing ivory tablecloths with burlap overlays on rounds and found that the gold just didn’t stand out enough.
What I liked about Hobby Lobby’s, in particular, is they’re glossy, so the candlelight at night will really catch on them, but they aren’t so dark brown that they look black. In your situation, if you went with gold chargers, I’m not sure they would stand out enough on your gold overlay.
Here’s another picture I’d taken the other day of them next to the window, so you can get an idea of the color variation in natural light. Pardon the smudges, I should’ve wiped them with a towel before I did it… Oops.
