(Closed) Charitable contribution in lieu of gifts?

I think that’s fine, and yes, I’d put it under registry on your website. I wouldn’t go into masses of detail about the charity you support; I would probably just say that you have supported x charity, with link, for x number of years, and leave it at that. People can be funny about charities, and might prefer to choose their own 🙂

We’re doing something similar.  We’re asking people to donate to the Human Rights Campaign for marriage equality since it’s really a privilege that we can get married.  We just put a link to our personalized page with them on our registry and said something along the lines of “Please consider donating to the Human Rights Campaign to ensure that marriage equality is reached for everyone.”  Short and sweet.  I know for a fact it will offend some of our wedding guests.  Honestly, I don’t care.  Anyway–I’m sure no one will be offended by your charity choice!

@MissMOH:  Luckily the vast majority of my guests will be either accepting or actively happy to see that on my registry.  There will be some people who are offended, but honestly they offend me by being against gay marriage, so we’re even!  But it is important to say that it’s not a huge risk for me.
