for previous brides who have used charities for the wedding registries, do you have any advice on how to best link your guests up with your charities?
Did you :
1) direct your guests directly to the charity’s website of your choice (e.g.: http://www.unicef.org to donate directly to UNICEF)
2) direct your guests to a 3rd party charity registry site such as justgive.org ? (where guests donate through them)
i’ve chosen 2 charities that I wanted to fundraise for through our wedding registry and JustGive.org seemed like a good way to do it, but I read on about.com that Just Give charges each guest a $5 service fee. is this true? Have any other brides used this site or do you have any charity registry advice?

I did justgive.org then left a direct link through our wedding website. Easy and so quick!

If the charity you wish to donate to has the ability to accept online donations, I would direct your guests directly to their site.
Three reasons – personally, I would fill more confident making a donation directly with the charity. I’m sure justgive.org is reputable, it’s just there’s been a lot of credit card theft with friends of ours so I’m cautious now as to who I give my credit card number to. Also, justgive takes 3% of the donation to cover their fees. I know it’s not much but I’m sure that’s money you would rather have go to the charity. Third reason is that justgive charges the giver a $5 "Gift Center Service Fee." So it’s more money going to justgive instead of the charity.
