I love Charleston!  My twin sister got married in Summerville for a VERY reasonable price.  She got married at a plantation house and was able to get all the Charleston charm without breaking the bank.  Feel free to msg me if I can be of any help!

@ChucktownBride2013:  How many people are you having at your wedding? We went into publix a couple of weeks ago to find out pricing on cakes, and it seemed like the LEAST expensive, plain cake we could get would be $500 dollars. Anything extra and it added up to 600-700 dollars. They don’t include any fillings in their prices, at all.

@knightbride:  After the Publix debacle (see above) I contacted Sunny Park Cakes with a budget of $300. Not that I want anything SUPER ornate by any stretch, but wanted a multitier cake (instead of cupcakes, etc). She’s recreating a cake I saw (that actually was a 700$ publix cake) in my price range. woohoo! SUPER easy to email and SO responsive. I haven’t actually tasted her cakes but all of her reviews are great.

I’m using Jaime Doucette for my cake (probably – haven’t had a tasting yet but she’s SO MUCH more afforadable than anywhere else!) She’s a full-time teacher and does cakes on the side so she can’t do anything extremely intricate but she does do sugar work and fondant.  She has a facebook page, if you search Jaime’s Cakes the default picture is a white cake with a beautiful giant sugar flower on it.

She came highly recommended by a friend of mine who manages a bridal salon in Charleston and has a lot of brides that have ordered their cakes through Jaime.  Her cakes start at $3 per serving including a special filling – $2.50 a serving if you just want it filled with buttercream which is WAY lower than anyone else I found!!

We’re having our reception at the Rice Mill so we’re having to really cut costs everywhere else. I’m looking at Jay Maxwell DJs and Wildflowers, Inc. for flowers.  We’re also using Sweetgrass Social for our week of coordination – it’s still expensive but way less than any other planner and I’ve been very very happy with them so far 🙂 Hope this helps a little!!

If you want to get in touch with Jaime pm me and I’ll send you her email address

@knightbride:  I loved our cake from Wildflour Pastry, it was less than $300 and served over 150 people (she made it bigger than necessary because she thought it looked prettier :)). It’s a  tiny little shop on Spring street but they make the BEST baked goods in addition to their cakes! Lauren the owner is super sweet!

I hope you have better luck with her than we did. We had been e-mail back and forth and then she just stopped responding.

@toothfairy910:  Sorry for the late reply! We just ordered our cake from Publix this weekend and it’s going to be (total) $340. We’re having a three tiered cake that serves about 70 people (not inlcuding the top layer for us to keep) and then we bought a small sheet cake (1/4 sheet) to serve the rest of the crowd, that will be kept in the back and sliced up for serving. Our layers are 12″, 9″ and 6″.

We are having fillings and they’re only $15 extra. Delivery will be $30, but all of that is included in the above figure. We’re only expecting 80-90 people and we’re serving doughnuts late night so we weren’t too concerend with having too much cake. Not everyone eats cake anyways. Hope you found what you were looking for!
