@mullinscmu  The Confederate Home & College is only open M-F, so unfortunately, we were not able to see it! 🙁 I will have to plan a weekend to go back down and check it out. The lady I spoke with on the phone said the fee is $675 for 3 hours. From looking at some photos I have seen online of other weddings, it will be well worth it!

If you take photos could you message them to me or send them to [email protected]? hahah Thanks 🙂

If any bees have any pictures of The Confederate Home as well, that would be such a huge help! I live in Charlotte and just can’t make it over there M-F.  My email is [email protected]. Thank you!!

Hello Charleston Brides!

We are looking at having an April 2014 wedding.  We fell in love with a venue, but it’s only availability is the weekend of the Cooper River Creek Run.  This is a destination wedding for us, as we live in Kansas City, MO.  All of our family will be flying in for the event, so I’m worried hotels will be too expensive and hard to find for that weekend.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

@knightbride: I would be wary of this. The Cooper River Bridge Run is a big deal here, and it’s simply murder trying to get around Charleston during this time. Unless you’re actually running the race, it’s advised to stay away from that general area because of all of the traffic that starts around 6am-7am. My future Father-In-Law ran it a couple of times and my Fiance said he would be getting ready to leave the house around 5am just to make it there on time. If you don’t mind me asking, what venue are you speaking of?

@jehnelly:  Thanks for the advice!  We are pushing the date back to May 23, 2014.  It’s not worth the craziness to try to coordinate around that kind of event.  Plus, I hate the thought of my guests spending over $200 a night on a hotel.  We’ve decided to go with Legare Waring House.  I’m obsessed with the avenue of oaks.
