I’m so glad I stumbled across this post! I’m going to Charleston in November to start planning our Fall 2011 wedding. Anyone have any other helpful tips or good vendors? Right now I’m looking for a good wedding coordinator and a  photographer. Our entire budget is $15k so I’m going completely off recommendations! Thanks ladies!

@Pink Peony: I highly recommend Cafe Catering for your food…they REALLY know how to work with your budget and the food is amazing…they also pride themselves on the set up of the food…so it looks and tastes great!

We’re trying to do a very small (about 30 people) wedding in Charleston for about $6500 or less total.  I loved Jennifer Bearden Photography but she’s out of our budget.  We’re going with Chi Photography who I can’t get out of my mind when we try to still look through photographers.

@june42011: Especially compared to other photographers in the area in the price range of Chi Photography, hers are far better in my opinion.

UM. First off, HE LAUGHED AT YOU? that is completely unprofessional and really disgusting. That is no way to handle any business.  But I’m getting married in Charleston and I know how expensive it all is! Our budget is fairly high, but we’re even running into issues where we can’t afford some things because of how insanely expensive they are! One vendor I will recommend through and through is A Charleston Bride wedding coordination. They are hands down the best there is and their pricing is also really great!

i also recommend using Other Brother Entertainment for your wedding entertainment. They are really helpful and can work with any budget on finding music.

@KLP2010: Who are you using?

@MrsPinkPeony:

Here’s how we’re doing ours…

Wedding and reception is at Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church..I think it was like 1200 all together.

Photography: We are using Katie Meitzler.  She is a good friend of ours from college.. She is from Charleston originally.  Around 1700 dollars.

Caterer: Royal Grand Events, Chef Curtis is amazing.  Around 6,700

Dress: David’s 800.00

We still need to do flowers..the rental tables and linen came from the caterer’s rental.

Cake: We are thinking of using the cake stand.

We are probably going to come in at around 12,000 by the time it is all said and done.

I have met some wonderful photographers along my journey to being a married lady! Amy Prikazky is one of the first photographers I met and I adored her and her work. Unfortunately, she was not available on my date, so I sadly had to let her go 🙁

I hired a photographer who recently took a job in Chicago so he is no longer available BUT our secondary photographer is an amateur named Scott Carmichael. The funny thing is, my wedding is the first he ever shot and I think his pictures were better than our primary photographer! I would totally recommend him to anyone. He’s easy to work with and he aims to please.

hey girls..what have you found a DOC to cost, and any suggestions? I’m about an hour out of Charleston, but Charleston area vendors would def be okay (even Columbia area and/or Pawleys area would be okay suggestions too, because I’m an hour from those as well.

I had my engagement photos done in Charleston on Folly Beach by an amazing photographer who has very reasonable pricing because she is still building her business. KDS Photography, she does alot of family photos but also does weddings and engagements. Beautiful beautiful photos without breaking the bank!!http://kdsphotography.blogspot.com/

We’re also getting married in Charleston April 30 and our budget started off at about 5,000 and has increased to 8,000. It has been a little difficult but its obviously a diy wedding but will be gorgeous. the ceremony is on the beach and our reception is at the folly river park.
