It’s completely do-able but you absolutely can’t go in thinking it’s impossible or having ridiculously high expectations. My budget was 15k for more people than you and I was completely blow away by what I was able to do – yes I had to pick and choose and sometimes there weren’t options because I went with what was cheapest, but I still had everything I wanted and more! There are some great options you just have to do your research!

What kind of style are you looking for and does the venue have to be downtown? Have to be on a Saturday or during peak season? There’s a lot of questions you need to ask yourself but it’s completely possible to do a 100 person wedding for 13k in Charleston.

@Miss_LC:  I have a similar budget and am getting married in Charleston! It is doable, you just have to be realistic about things and figure out what your priority to spend on is. I had a reality check with what details I could actually include for my budget. But, it can work out! To go with your style… look into the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall (not downtown but beautiful space on Boone Hall Plantation) and you could get a reasonable caterer to help keep costs lower.

Gold Bug Island is also a cheaper venue option not downtown. It would need a little more decor, but I’ve heard the view is pretty!

March would help with price as some places start “peak season” pricing in April. Same with doing an “off-peak” fall month.

I have been asking for more estimates upfront before giving my budget to avoid the “we can’t help you” thing. And if they are rude, there goes their business! Don’t give up on your dream wedding, just make a list of what is really most important to you in your dream.

Good luck! 🙂

One thing I also did before actually looking at venues and doing tastings etc was I set up an email account solely for my wedding and just asked vendors for their price lists saying I was still in the beginning stages and didn’t have my budget worked out yet. 80% sent me their costs right away so it helped me figure out who I could afford and who was just not going to happen.

@Miss_LC:  I think your budget is totally doable.  Like some said you might have to cut here or there but definitely possible.  Here’s post that has a lot of great information – .  May I suggest you check out Runnymede Plantation just outside of Charleston.  It’s a fairly new venue so it might be a good deal. I’m not sure what kind of equipment rentals they have available such as chairs, tables, tents, etc…

One other thing to consider, ask your vendors if they have a gift registry option.  There are now ways for vendors to set up a gift registry just like target or bed bath and beyond.  This could help you pay for your dream wedding.

Best of luck and try not to get discouraged, it might take a little more work on your part but it can be done.

If you are looking for a downtown venue, the Charleston Yacht Club is very affordable- I can send you the information. They also supply VERY inexpensive bartenders so you can bring in your own liquor.

Also, the Charleston Visitors Center is only $600 to rent!!! $600!!!

My budget is a bit higher than yours, but my guest count is double, so I have some great vendors I am working with and am happy to share. PM me if you are interested

Don’t get discouraged!! My budget is 10k for 33 people.  But I am splurging on a few things (dress!!) have you looked into McCradys at all? That’s where we are having our reception.

Their minimum is only 2500.  They also provide other great expenses that add up (tables, chairs, linens..etc). All of those savings alone is huge! I am only renting ceremony chairs, table runners and a few other decorations.

I had a really hard time finding a place that didn’t have a minimum that was my entire budget.  Let me know if you need any vendor help, I have done a ton of research on trying to find the best quality and most affordable options.

@Miss_LC:  No problem, glad to help.  Here is one more post for you, http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/charleston-sc-bees-need-help-with-a-ceremony-venue

They mentioned a venue that I completely forgot about and it’s called the Gathering which is a barn style venue and I know  you want vintage so this might add to the overall feel of your wedding.  But it’s 30-45 minutes oustide of Charleston.

Have you settled on any vendors yet?  I can definitely give you some recommendations, especially photographersSealed.  If you want, send me a PM and we can chat some more about vendors.

@tracyb3285:  Do you know anything about the Charleston Visitor’s Center?  I don’t find much when I research it for wedding receptions.
