I’m new to weddingbee and deep in the planning of my June 26, 2010 wedding in Charleston. I’m working with Elyn with Charleston Event & Bridal Library to plan my wedding. She is wonderful so far and I can’t wait to meet her when my fiance and I go visit Charleston in November.
We are getting married & reception at the Thomas Bennett House.
We are stuck on what to do as favors for our guests.. any ‘southern’ suggestions? I was thinking personalized mason jar mugs, but the shipping is outragious!
Also- I am gown shopping and fell in love with the Torrean Watters gown. I didn’t get to see if in the white only in the eggshell. If you’ve seen it or tried it on in the white let me know what you think!

Salt water taffy
sweetgrass baskets (the larger ones are expensive but maybe someone can do some fans instead)

Instead of sweetgrass, do those sweetgrass/palmetto roses that they sell down by the Battery or Market!
Also, pralines or anything from market street munchies; benne seed wafers; anything by gullah gourmet in west ashley might be good or some rustically packaged grits (try Mast General Store in Greenville); any sort of southern pickled treat like pickled okra, hehe; postcards from around charleston; tickets for a ghost tour; also is your date during the tall ships festival? I seem to think it is but I’m not sure so maybe something to do with that? Also, what about the local winery (Irvin-House out on Wadmalaw Island), Charleston Tea Plantation (Or Carolina Select Tea–I think it tastes better) tea favors, Palmetto Brewing beer, Firefly Sweet Tea vodka… wow I think I have quite a list going on here!
Start picking up copies of Charleston Weddings magazine for more ideas, though!
