I consistently ovulate CD15. There were 2 times it was CD14, but it hasn’t been later than that in the 10 cycles since my IUD came out. The way it fell made BD timing exceptionally difficult but we moved things around and did a ton of driving to hit O-4, O-2, and O-1…or so we thought. I was so happy that we had good timing this month. I seemed to have EWCM CD15, although we used preseed CD14, so I am not positive. CD16- temp went up as it always does. CD17 and 18 my temps have been down. There are a few weird things that might have affected my temp:
I changed my down comforter to a lighter one on CD14, but my temp did go up CD16.
Darling Husband thought it was much colder when we woke up CD17.
I am coming down with a cold (possibly allergies and took allegra the night of CD17).
How much does a cold matter? I don’t have any reason to believe my normal clockwork schedule was disrupted. If I ovulate later, we likely missed my FW because Darling Husband was out of town. This is TTC#11 and I am so frustrated. Please help!

@guitargirl: i don’t see anything on here that would really indicate you ovulated. do you sleep with your mouth open? I’m a mouth breather and my temps were very up and down until i switched to vaginal temping (though they still went up and down a little.don’t have too much to go on b/c we only had 2 cycles). i know it seems weird, but i was willing to try it. also have you tried OPK’s?

It doesn’t look like you have ovulated yet because there is no sustained temp shift. I know my temperatures weren’t ever really affected by the temperature in the room, but everyone is different. Colds or any sort of sickness and/or taking medication always sent my temp shooting up for a day or two, and anytime I drank more than a glass or two of alcohol (especially if I was hungover), my temperature would always be sky high.
I’d consider yourself fertile until you see that temp shift and definitely recommend OPKs. GL to you!

I have tried OPKs but they stress me out and I always ovulate CD14-15, so didn’t think the extra stress was worth it. My husband confirmed that I had been mouth breathing due to congestion. I did a neti pot right before bed which helped some, and my temp went up today. Starting vaginal temps at this point is probably not helpful since oral and vaginal temps don’t completely correlate- I think that would work had I been doing vaginal temps all cycle. So the question is, which temp(s) are outliers- CD16 or 17/18?

@guitargirl: i don’t know that you can assume any of them are outliers. i guess 18 is most likely to be inaccurate since it’s an open circle. and yes, you’re right that you shouldn’t switch temp methods mid-cycle.

@guitargirl: I see you discarded temps for CD17 and 18… I guess I would think that it’s more likely that one “outlying” temp (CD16) would be the wrong one instead of two that are relatively within your normal temps… But hopefully you’re right and 17/18 were wrong.. Either way, you’ll know within a week or two, so try not to stress!

@guitargirl: I wouldn’t discard any temps unless you are defintiely sick, or have had no sleep. It’s normal to get a fallback rise (corpus luteum dip) between 2-5dpo. Your temps have gone back up, so I would think that maybe you did ovulate on CD15, and it’s just some dips. I get some dips after O as well. Don’t count this out yet!
