Turtle83:  Thanks – I had chicken pox when I was like 4…but apparently your immunity to these things can fade with time. I am beyond frustrated with everything that I’ve dealt with today. Apparently the chicken pox is extremely dangerous right around when you give birth. If I contracted it now, and got pregnant or went through with the IUI baby would be subject to birth defects (I think I read like 1/200 have serious issues). My doctor advises to cancel the cycle and I trust her.

Ok, so here is the new plan:

I’m going to get my chicken pox vaccine tonight (do you know how difficult this is to do if you are under 65?). I also will stop taking the femara and start birth control this evening.

Around the 4th of July, I will stop birth control and be able to go in for monitoring on or around Friday July 8. We will do femara cycle days 3-7 and a follow up ultrasound on cycle day 10 (July 17). If everything looks ok, I can do the trigger shot and have timed intercourse. (No IUI because we leave for vacation on Saturday July 18). I’ll take progesterone until we get home, and if I’m not pregnant I will stop progesterone and call the office on cycle day 1 to start the meds for the IUI (hopefully first or second week of August).

The very worst case scenario would be that I’m not ready to trigger before we leave/don’t respond to the meds, and I just do a cycle with femara. It’s better than nothing…but I wish I could still move on with iui after the 30 days.

howsweetitis:  My temps did something similar right after my cp, and I thought I ovulated early too! I bet it’s just weirdness with your hormones re-regulating, or that your body is adjusting to the warmer temps.

Hello, ladies! Wondering if anyone has some insight for me…I just started charting this month so I’m just getting the hang if things! I’m still BFing DS (14 mo), but AF returned in March. Since then I’ve only had 2 cycles (36/37 days). We are officially TTC #2! Last cycle was pretty much a flop…Darling Husband works out of state 2 weeks a month, and he was gone during my entire FW. Hoping that O stays away until he gets back for this cycle (which would mean CD 23/CD 24…which is late but when I O’d the last 2 cycles.) ANYWAYS. Do my temps look especially erratic to you?! The 3 open dots are bc i temped 6:30am instead of 5:30am (but FWIW, I have experimented and my temp shifts higher about .1 each hour). Just looking for some words of wisdom from the pros, I suppose! πŸ™‚ TIA!

ETA: I obvi don’t believe the crosshairs FF is trying to give me. And I had EWCM sporadically throughout my last cycle, too.

Well, joke’s on me! Chicken pox vaccine is actually 2 part – and I have to wait 4 weeks before the second dose. So 4 weeks and THEN 30 days. I seriously started crying when the doctor just told me that. Not my finest moment. Today can end now. I’m over it.

BeverlyGeese:  I just saw your updates from today.  I am so, so sorry!  What a horrible day!  I had no idea that a missing/expired vaccine could set TTC plans to the side like that.  I’m so sorry πŸ™ Lots of internet hugs to you tonight πŸ™  We’re all here for you to vent whenever you need to.

redhead46: Thanks for the moral support! Diet soda is SO disgustingly unhealthy on so many levels but ugh, so tough to cut out completely … I try not to have it around, which helps. I’ve been substituting a natural raspberry/lime seltzer from Trader Joe’s with no sugar, additives etc when I need something other than water but caved and bought coke zero at the store last night!

auggiefrog: Thanks so much for the encouragement about acupuncture. I just need to get the ball rolling and get myself in gear to get an appointment now! Funny, we are doing the opposite this cycle of you guys and starting BD later because the wacky post-MC cycle last time around had us all messed up, so we had 2 weeks of stellar timing then got sort of worn out and I think his precious cargo was depleted by the time the 2nd wave of follies and IUI came around!

howsweetitis: Thanks, dear! Pup is doing great. Picking up on training quickly. I forgot how sweet each phase is – that mix of needy/babyhood and innocence and increasingly brave exploration. He is 4 pounds and can’t even go down the steps yet, just so little. I let Darling Husband name him … my long-game is the desire to have the upper hand in naming a 2-legged bebe πŸ˜‰ We name our shelties something Scottish usually where possible, a nod to their genetics/breeding. He chose Connor MacLeod (the Highlander). I wanted Finnegan or similar, with Finn for short. But, it’s growing on me. There just aren’t any nicknames for Connor. But Darling Husband is as happy as he was on our wedding day, I swear – he is just so thrilled to have a sweet pup in our family again and I love seeing that!

hogoboom2012: Hey, thanks for asking. And sorry to hear about the BFN. I started the Metformin Saturday. They want me on 500 mg for week 1, 1000 mg for week 2, then up to full dose of 1500 mg thereafter. It is certainly giving me some unpleasant GI side effects but after a few days, I feel my body adjusting and normalizing. Hoping it helps both of us! And hope your nausea subsides soon!

BeverlyGeese: Isn’t Femara wonderful? I think it’s a great drug. I loved it, no side effects and got my BFP on it (that ended in CP). Looking forward to hearing how it turns out for you and hope it’s looking positive at monitoring this coming weekend!

Feist: Hey friend, congrats on becoming an aunt. I am so sorry about the frustrations of this cycle and how painful it must be seeing someone close to you/DH become a mother when you were hoping the timing would be near your own LO. It’s really, really hard. Thinking of you.

Afm, nothing exciting to report. Puppy is keeping me very busy. I’m not even truly temping, gave up because of getting up so many times overnight with him. It’s actually kind of nice to sorta kinda not give a fig and just not be bothered about it. Started shots CD 3. First monitoring tmrw. Gearing up to motivate for a couple weeks of constant appointments.

BeverlyGeese: I am so, so sorry about the vaccine situation. Absolutely nothing more frustrating than being forced into any delay or break in TTC. My fertility clinic won’t start doing any cycles until you go through a full month + of all their extensive, required workups including this sort of thing. I was so annoyed with their strictness at the time but understand why. It is all so damn much work. I fantasize and wonder about how this process felt for my friends who simply naively rolled in the hay for a couple months and got KU without all the medicalization of it. You must feel like 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. Hang in there!

howsweetitis: My temps last month (cycle after CP) were crrraaazy. Almost all pre-O temps were above cover line. I think it’s super super common so try not to worry. I would just monitor extra closely for signs of O. FX for you!

rjay:  Thanks for your support, ladies. Unfortunately, the week from hell hasn’t ended yet- my uncle passed away yesterday. It was somewhat expected- he was old and tired and fought a long time, but I’m just ready for there to be good news instead of bad news.

Now that I’ve brought everyone down again, I’m turning over a new leaf and I’m going to be super positive! FF gave me crosshairs for CD16! I don’t quite agree with them, but I’ll take em! I should get the results of my progesterone test today or tomorrow, and that’ll confirm if I ovulated before cd20. Also, our renovation is coming along! I cleaned out all the furniture and decor from the living room. Today I’ll try to move what’s left from the dining room (china cabinet and table/chairs). And I’m about 50% done packing the kitchen. I can start to take the floor in the LR up today, so I’m excited about that! Can’t wait to share before/after pictures with you ladies!

bees_knees:  I don’t think you Oed when FF thinks you did. It may be because of your open circles. Have you tried using a temp correcter when you oversleep? It might make your chart look a little less wonky.

howsweetitis:  I hope your temps even out. It could be from the CP as your body’s trying to recover. Also, although they’re slightly higher than usual, they aren’t out of the neighborhood so it could just be that you’re toastier at night due to the heat! In either case, I think it’ll sort itself out soon!

BeverlyGeese:  WTF…that sucks!  I guess it’s worth it if you’re paying that much $ out of pocket- you want everything to be right and you certainly don’t want to risk baby’s health.  But that sucks your doctor didn’t think to do that ealier.  I’m so sorry!

    View original reply
bees_knees:  They look a little erratic but not too bad because none are super high and only two are low…they are all below 97.3 so I assume after you ovulate you will have higher temps.
Overall I think it looks okay/normal (other than the CH being wrong!)

I think one of the best days of my life was when the bound copy of the dissy arrived and I put it on my shelf and let the “doneness” of it all sink in. Bravo, lady!

BeverlyGeese:  I am so sorry that the vaccination is causing such a delay. It totally sucks to be so close to doing something and then be setback with delays. Welcome to the Be on Birth Control while TTC Club or should I say Bee on Birth Control while TTC Club. LOL How long do you have to be on it? I know you said originally until July but is it August now? Im starting my second pack today and will definitely have to go onto a 3rd pack. It sucks, but if you need anything, I’m here, going through the same waiting game.

BeverlyGeese:  I’m so sorry, what a terrible update. I can relate to how you must be feeling, after my D&C last year I was found to have endometritis and had to do antibiotics and then more testing, I ended up having to TTA for 3 cycles which was awful, I was so ready to TTC again, but I was forced to wait. I’m so sorry, sending you tons of hugs and we’re all here if you need to vent.
