ruby26:  Hahah I’ve totally given up. This whole thing is just comical now. This morning my temp was still low, I have crazy EWCM AND dark brown spotting. Negative OPK yesterday. I haven’t been sick, I haven’t been stressed out, things have been going pretty well actually so I’m not really sure why my body has totally started freaking out on me. I’m leaving in a few hours to go to NY for 3 days, but maybe we can get in a quickie before I leave lol.

Question for those who have met with a RE…

We scheduled our first appointment with the same center which did DH’s SA. Its located nearby and one of the best in the country (Oregon Reproductive Medicine). My question is I was surprised by the cost of the initial consultation of  meeting with a doctor and sharing our concerns. $350. Neither of our insurance plans cover this. Is this right in line with other practices? I guess I was just surprised by the cost but this is a new world to me. Anything I should expect or ask on this first visit?

howsweetitis:  OMG take me with you if you come back. I hope that your Icelandic BD gives you your own little puffin in 9 months! (please call your bump puffin??)

AFM, I got all my bloodwork back from my OB. I’m normal. All is well. So there is still no cause for my water breaking. I guess it really was a fluke huh? Just hoping that it’s a fluke that never repeats.

FreckledFox:  Glad your bloodwork was normal, but that’s frustrating not knowing why. Good and bad at the same time. Hope you’re doing okay. How have you been holding up? P.s. I love the idea of howsweetitis calling her baby puffin!!

arielmerms:  oh my gosh you poor thing! Are you feeling okay? I have no experience with those meds so I have no advice, but I hope you feel better soon and get your BFP soon!

arielmerms:  Yikes, I’m sorry about your wasp sting. I know prednisone is category C, but I wouldn’t be too concerned. In fact, I think @turtle83 is on prednisone her first trimester if I’m not mistaken? Hope you start feeling better soon!

FreckledFox:  SO glad everything turned out normal 🙂

theshannondee:  My RE actually had the same out of pocket cost so I think $350 is normal. I got lucky in that my insurance covered it since my Dr is in-network, so all I had was a $50 copay for a specialist. As far as questions or things to ask, how long have you been ttc? Are there any worries you may have or explanation for dh sa? I had a whole list of questions given it was our 12 cycle ttc and I had short cycles with one cp. Good luck at your appointment – I hope you get some answers!

FreckledFox:  I’m so glad your results were normal, but I understand it can be frustrating since it’s good to have something “wrong” to fix ((hugs))

arielmerms:  I was on prednisone during my first trimester. I was on 20mg every day until week 10, then I started weaning off it for 3 weeks. So I finally stopped it last week at 13 weeks. I hope you feel better soon!

theshannondee:  Unfortunately I think that’s pretty normal. I have insurance that pays for the RE, but having worked in two different specialist Dr offices, that’s a normal consult fee. It is always worth asking if they have a self-pay discount if you pay upfront. Sometimes practices will let you pay somewhere between what they bill and what insurance actually pays them if you pay upfront, but you have to ask. REs might not since so many of their patients are self-pay.

AFM, sorry to be MIA, things have been CRAZY getting ready to leave. We are off tomorrow morning. Realized as we packed that sometime in the last two weeks either our cleaning woman who we’ve had for over a year with no problems stole my camera equipment, or someone entered our house and took only that. SO, not a fun thing to discover $2000 of camera equipment missing the day before you go on a scenic trip! Especially because it was all gifts that i’ve collected over many holidays. Luckily our renters insurance should cover $1500 of that but it’s super depressing. My previous camera was stolen/missing when I moved in with DH, and then his was stolen/missing in our move here so maybe we just arent supposed to have a dSLR.

Feist:  I’m sorry about the theft.  I would be so mad if someone took off with my camera.  It’s great that you are able to get some of the money back.  Sorry about your bad luck with cameras.

AFM, I decided to switch from the unsupportive OB who didn’t want to schedule me until 12 weeks, back to my GP who is seeing me at 8 weeks.  I feel so much better about this switch.  Also, it looks like I’ve been given my own classroom (for a little while at least) this fall.  Normally there is two teachers to a classroom because of state ratios, but attendance must be down or something because I have the three year-olds as a single.  I didn’t get a chance to talk with my boss about it, she was on her way out with a sick kid when I found out.  So I will have so much work do do in the next few weeks, which will help to bring a much needed distraction.
