Charters!  Popping in for a quick question. Currently ttc for #2. I’ve had ewcm for the past two days. My OPK was almost positive last night, definitely positive this morning and this afternoon. The one tonight looks a teeny tiny bit fainter. My confusion? I have ovulation pain now.  I’ve never tested multiple OPKs before so I’m not sure if I’ve had O pain at the same time as a positive OPK. I can’t be ovulating this soon after a positive, can I?  I only ask because we have severe male factor infertility and shouldn’t BD more than every other day because of it. BD last night assuming I’d O tomorrow and we’d BD again tomorrow, but now I don’t want to miss the boat. Sorry that was long. Advice?

(p.s. I know it’s kind of a mute point since our chances of spontaneous conception are slim to none, but I want to give it my best shot before fertility treatments start in January).

hogoboom2012:  that cake ia adorable! My sugar cookie one is 3c flour, 1/2t salt, 2 sticks butter, 1 c sugar, 1 egg, and 2t vanilla. Pretty simple!  I don’t add any extra flour since I roll it out warm between wax paper, put in the fridge, and then cut while it’s cold.

The icing is 2c powdered sugar, 4 t meringue powder, 1t vanilla, and then either 3T warm water for piping or 6T warm water for flooding.  That makes 1/2 lb batches so I usually do 1/2lb for piping and 1lb for flooding for 1-2 batches of cookies. They round up to 3T meringue for the 1lb recipes and other ingredients are just doubled.

lalalalauren:  wow that instragram is awesome!  Definitely more precise than me! I love looking for ideas so that is great!

WillowB:  I think you’re supposed to O 12-48 hours after your first positive opk so it’s definitely possible-GL!!!

WillowB:  I would go for it and BD away. We’ve had several discussions about this, but what exactly IS O pain – when the egg releasea? When it just did release? When the dominant follicle is just about to rupture? Either way, a pos OPK means O is happening soon, and since right before O is better for baby making than the day of O, I would take the chance at being early rather than missing O entirely. Good luck!

Hey charters, was anyone feeling the calling to start a new thread? I am happy to, but if someone else had their heart set on it, let me know 🙂

WillowB:  I have had O pains 12 hrs after a positive.  I usually just get positives in the morning and have often had O pains that night. Usually FF will mark O as the next day and my temp jump is the day after that

MrsMellyBean: Yay!  I’m glad you were able to find your cervix and try that!  I’ve tried a couple times, but have been unsucessful so far.  I’m assuming you live in Canada if a lot of your health care is free? That’s awesome!  We just found out our insurance is changing (again) so we’re going to be paying around $650/month for insurance.  😛 Reminding myself that it’ll be totally worth it if we have a baby this year! No idea on O for me.  OPK’s have been negative and another charter recommended I stop testing with those just because I don’t need the stress.  Next u/s is Monday afternoon and hopefully they can give me more insight into what’s (or what isn’t) happening.

MattieK:  you don’t need to apologize for feeling down!  Ever!  TTC is tough and that’s why we’re all here.  As long as all of us aren’t in a down mood at the same time, there’s others who can help encourage you again.   You should post photos of the cookies you make!  It’s a busy weekend for us.  I’ve got Cupcake Wars with our women’s ministry tonight (I’m ridiculously excited and I’m running it, I don’t even get to decorate! 🙁 ) and then family Thanksgiving #1 tomorrow and church, a baptism and then maybe a bunch of students over for dessert on Sunday! whew!  And yes, I vote you start the next thread!

WillowB:  FWIW, I’ve only had one cycle where I O’d a day after the +OPK.  Every other cycle, it’s been the same day as my +OPK.  It sounds like you’ve got some good timing either way!  I hope you get a BFP without the medical intervention!

kes18:  That is super helpful and so easy!  Thanks!!
