Just got back from a small family birthday gathering where they decided to give me 30 gifts for turning 30.  Mostly small gag gifts…a few real gifts thrown in.  One of them was a pregnancy journal. Ha. Ha.  Of course that led to a bunch of questions about when I would be using it. I know they are just excited and they mean well but I hate trying to deflect those jokes/questions!

Turtle83:  Sorry for the BFN, by looking at your chart, this one seems to be a long cycle for you. It’s so strange though because you got two positive OPKs, so I would think you ovulated at least 16 days ago. This is intriguing! Hopefully, you find answers soon.

So I went to the dr’s today as my back pain has become excruciating & they insisted on me taking a pg test. Bfn as predicted. Still hurts though πŸ™

My chart is so frustrating this month. My temps have been abnormally high and I’ve also been sick for the past week. The last two days my temps have been even higher, which made FF give me dotted CH on CD14. Although I would love to have ovulated that early, I know that can’t be correct. I guess the only way for sure I will know what’s going on is if I get a positive OPK.

HopefulSim:  Sometimes I get even MORE excited when i have my phone with me because i will update my chart immediately after seeing fertile CM. I take charting too seriously sometimes.  πŸ˜‰

mkat37:  Oh goodness….. I mean, 30 presents is a fun idea, but what the heck? What if you were unable to get pregnant, or something like that! God forbid, but that’s so rude. I’m sure they mean well though.. ugh. I hope that this is your month!!!

emsy3110:  Yeah, I’ll agree with you and say CD14 doesn’t look right. Illness can change your temps, so it’s not uncommon to have wonky ones while battling a cold! I hope it evens out. I’m sure you will still see a temp rise and +opk! Hopefully soon!

Nic01:  I’m sorry about the BFN  πŸ™  It’s just so tough. What DPO are you? Any chance its still early?

AOriver:  I’m glad that your doctor is testing you for a bunch of stuff! It’s good to figure that out sooner!

Turtle83:  NewfieBullet:  Thanks to all for the OPK interpretation tips!  I wasn’t able to test again until around 7PM yesterday and got a clear negative, so I’m calling the test from yesterday morning positive (or assuming I would have gotten a darker positive late morning/early afternoon).  This is the closest I’ve gotten to confirming O since going off of the pill in December 2013, so I’m stoked!!

Question for those of you with office jobs: How do you POAS at work?!  It was awkward enough doing it at the gym bathroom, but at least I don’t care what anyone there thinks!  According to what FreckledFox posted from FF, the best time to test is in the middle of the day, which is also the least convenient time to test for anyone who works normal business hours.  The bathroom nearest to me is for my entire floor and has maybe 8-10 stalls.  I don’t want my new coworkers to think I’m KU.

Turtle83:  I started a new job this month and won’t qualify for FMLA leave until September 2015, so we’re planning to start TTC in January 2015 for a possible due date no earlier than October 2015.  As it turns out, we wouldn’t be able to try until November 2014 anyway because I have to go in for required testing on CD3 and CD11 the cycle before we start IUI and I’ve been out of town on CD3 for the past two cycles (annoying!).  So the new job isn’t responsible for too much of a delay, but it still hurts to wait.  I’m sorry to hear about your BFN.   I hear you about trying to balance the benefits of charting against the benefits of not charting.

Nic01:  I’m sorry to hear that.

mkat37:  candy11:  I get those questions/comments too and they’re so painful, especially now that we feel ready to TTC but have to wait a few more months.

HopefulSim:  You are definitely not the only one!  I did a happy dance when I saw EWCM for the first time after about a decade on the pill.

LittleRiver:  Yay I’d call that one from yesterday postive too! I’ve brought OPKs to work in my purse. I’ll stick one either in my pocket, bra or boot depending on the outfit. I usually wil pee right on the stick in that case, though i have opened the package and used it as a “boat” cup. Then I’ll wait like… 3 minutes for the opk to dry a bit.. wrap it very lightly in toilet paper and conceal it someplace (bra, boot) so that I can wash my hands and head back to my desk… I’ll gently put it in my purse towards the top and just check on it a few times til it dries.   πŸ™‚ Once it’s dry, I’ll wrap it tighter and put it in a zippered part of my bag to take home, or I’ll toss it if it’s negative.

Looking for some tips… Not that this is the best thing to discuss, but how do you ladies pick yourself up from a failed cycle? I keep trying to remember how excited I was when August began, but now I’m just kind of lost, and mad at AF.. I feel like once she goes way and I can actually start trying again it will be better. But how do you cope during the first few days of Blahs?

AOriver:  Well, the only thing that seems to be working, and I say “seems” to be doing something because I’ve only tried it for one cycle is Vitex. Besides testing, doctors can do little to change your cycles unless they provide some sort of medication to make you ovulate faster. I would probably try a more natural route first. Are you taking any supplements?
