MrsN14:  Those opks are negative, but I don’t know what to say. Let me see if i understand… you stopped BCP, but had a bleed 12 days later? Or you finished your pack, and started again but stopped? I’m sorry, confused!

FreckledFox:  DH has tonsilitis. He told the doctor he was TTC and he said that was fine. I looked it up and apparently antibiotics can decrease testosterone and sperm production, so I guess it may make it less likely to conceive. As for me, I told the doctor I was TTC and he said Ventolin is actually safe to use during pregnancy. So I guess we are not taking anything that could harm a baby, but I guess our bodies not being very healthy right now will make it less likely that this month will work.

FreckledFox:  I am sorry you’re feeling down. Every time AF showed up when we were trying, I couldn’t stop but think “it was over”. All the TWW was over, I wasn’t pregnant. AF is such a reminder though that we weren’t pregnant. The one thing that helped me was looking forward to the next 3 weeks or so until ovulation to eat/drink anything I wanted. This may not sound so great, but I could really be careless since I knew I didn’t have a baby growing inside me. It gets better after the first few days of the cycle. On the bright side, your cycles are moderate length meaning in about two weeks you will be trying again.

AOriver: I’ve certainly talked with my doctor about it, but I’m not too concerned about the fact that my cycles are lengthy. My mom had irregular cycles that were on the long side (sometimes as long as 6 months), and she managed 4 healthy natural pregnancies. Also, aside from the genetic component, I think it also has to do with the fact that I’m “underweight” for my height, (but I have been all my life, so it’s not like recent dramatic weightloss or anything). I’m sure the long cycles will be super annoying when I’m TTC, but I’m not ready to try anything to change it right now. I may talk to my doctor more in the spring when I have my pre-conception appointment about what she suggests supplement-wise.

FreckledFox:  Haha sorry! I know they aren’t positive but I thought they might be getting closer. It is confusing. I finished one pack, had the withdrawl, then started 3 days of pills, stopped, and had another bleed after that (so 7 days after the last bleed ended). I’ll just keep temping and using OPKs until I either get a postive or AF.

candy11:  Thanks, you are right. I am thankful that my cycles have calmed down, but it’s another TWW until O now! Hehe I am going to make myself a drink tonight! We scraped the loose paint off the house so i think I deserve a break ๐Ÿ˜‰

ruby26:  I keep forgetting that you aren’t TTC yet!Definitely  ask a million questions at your preTTC appointment! I asked my dr if my long cycles were an issue and she said that since I am charting, they shouldn’t be since I know my O date. She said longer cycles just make pinpointing O and Bd timing confusing. If I wasn’t Oing until like CD60, she’d have been concerned!

MrsN14:  Oh okay, gotcha! I’m thinking that your second withdrawal bleed was just bleeding and that it wasn’t AF. ๐Ÿ™‚ if you want to keep doing opks, try 1-2 a day in the afternoon! Keep in mind that it can take a bit for your body to adjust after coming off BCP and that includes LH surges as well!

AOriver:  I worry about it taking a long time too… Especially when I think about the fact that this cycle started in July! But I’m reading a lot about things that may affect cycle length so I’ll be changing things like the amount I exercise to hopefully make it shorter relative to me.

FreckledFox:  ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m one of those people who will have 2 years of charting under my belt before TTC. It’s certainly helping me be prepared! I should start writing a list of questions for my gyn so I don’t forget anything when my appointment comes around in 9 months, haha.

Can anyone help me out?  I stopped BC on 8/23 and had withdrawl bleeding starting on 8/26-8/31. Started temping on 9/2 and my temps are wonky!  It hasn’t even been a week yet, but they’re ranging from 97.24 to 97.78 (today) with a drop to 97.1 in there as well.  I’ve been temping the same time every morning and for the most part, I’ve been half asleep doing it.  The morning it dropped so low, I had been awake for a few mins to toss the cat off the bed, but that was it. Is it normal for temps to be really weird when you first go off BC?

I tested this morning and I got a faint BFP, I’m not really excited since I have gone through this so many times and they never stick. I called my RE and I’ll go later this morning for blood work and will have to repeat the test on Monday to make sure my betas are doubling. My chart is a mess, I was sleep deprived, the thermometer was defective (inaccurate temps) so I never confirmed ovulation, I only had 2 days that I had almost positive OPKs and I marked them as positives in FF just to get CHS, I hope my O date is wrong, because if not, getting a faint positive at 19DPO is not good :/

hogoboom2012:  Yep! I think this is totally normal. And it’s definitely what I found — if it helps to compare, here is my first month off BC —

Temps all up and down, fertile CM coming and going, and no ovulation at all. But things have definitely started to even out for me. My 2nd and now 3rd cycles off BC, my temps and CM were much more predictable, and I got clear ovulation signals. I think our bodies just take a little time to readjust after birth control, is all ๐Ÿ™‚
