Ladies, I need your words of wisdom…

To cut a long story short (original long story here: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/im-really-down-how-does-everyone-else-cope?replies=13#post-6144986) :

I’m realising that charting is causing A HUGE stress factor for me (it’s a daily reminder of TTC and it’s not allowing me to sleep well bc the only way I have of making sure I temp at the same time is to set my alarm at 5 am, and I then struggle to go back to sleep).

So I’m considering stopping… Butttttt the reason I’m confused on whether I should stop or not is because of my short LP… I found out on cycle 4 that  I had a short LP which is why I started charting on cycle 5; so I could monitor to confirm this wasn’t a one-off, (and it wasn’t, cycle 5 I had a short LP ) and also check improvement once I started taking B6/bcomplex/agnus castus in cycle 6 (my current cycle).

But I’m getting so stressed with the daily checks and so sleep deprived, that I just don’t know what to do… At the same time, I don’t know if I stopped charting, if I’d be able to relax unless I knew my LPs were under control…

Ugh, sorry about the rant… Waht do you guys think???

@wandering_gypsy:  Aww thanks ladies! I was really proud of myself to have a finished product I could actually use because I am so not a crafty person at all!

@FreckledFox:  OOh wow your FF is soooo confused. Looks like you will O sometime this month so that’s good…. Mine keeps getting longer and longer too, but it’s still only half as long as yours! I looove all your DIY stuff for your wedding! Especially your cake topper! And those paper flowers (I think they are paper?) super pretty!!

@guitargirl:  Hmm you are missing data and have a bunch of open circles between CD15-20. I almost have to wonder if you O’d around CD 20?

@proudcatlady:  I replied on your thread. ((HUGS)). I can’t help with the TTC aspect, but I’m a worrier and stresser and a “fear for the future” type of person, so I understand!

@Utopia4us:  LOL at the Meme!  And yes, those flowers are paper. They were my labor of love for 6 months. Every night I’d come home, cut swirls, roll paper and hot glue them together. I think I made like 350 flowers!

@FreckledFox:  They are beautiful! Were they part of your centrepieces?

@proudcatlady:  I also replied on your thread. But I forgot to mention about the temping part of that I really struggled with that at first too. Once I am up I’m up, and I kept waking up earlier and earlier. Eventually though (it took about 3 months I would say) my body got used to me temping. I now wake up without an alarm sometime between 5 AM and 6 AM (yes I know it’s not that precise but it really doesn’t seem to affect my chart that much) and often I will practically fall back to sleep while the thermometer is still in my mouth and the beeping will bring me back. So yes it is tough but maybe give yourself a bit more time to adjust to it? I think considering your dr problems having the chart will be really helpful as evidence (at least I hope they would consider it). Maybe try temping as soon as you find you are awake even if it is not time yet, and then change your alarm to when you actually need to wake up and see if that helps with your sleep since you aren’t tossing and turning for an hour thinking about TTC? Cuz I can see how that would get really stressful, plus temping after you toss and turn for an hour may not be super accurate anyways.

@Utopia4us:  Yes they were. We had rectangular tables, so it was one mason jar with paper flowers, then a piece of glassware with a candle, then a stack of books, with a mason jar of dried flowers, then on the other side it mirrored with a glass with a candle and a mason jar of paper flowers!

@Utopia4us: a little bit and say that you should remove your alarm and just temp when you wake up. I get up 6am for work every day, but I turn the alarm off on the weekends and temp when I get up (anywhere from 5:30-8am). I don’t even temp correct it. My body tends to hold the same BBT pattern as long as I’m temping as soon as my eyes open. If I toss and turn and wait for 6am, then my temp rises. You could always try vaginally as well, but that’s a whole different situation! Temp when you wake. That would reduce a stresser at least. People who work overnight and werird shifts can still have a pattern found in FF.  πŸ™‚

Hmm…  I did make a 3 tiered cake for our anniversary reception that turned out great.

Sorry for my absence, ladies. I’ve been stalking from afar on FF. I just needed a ltttle bit of a WB baby frenzy break after the BFN last month.

@FreckledFox:  as well about the shift work. I work for a crisis centre and have complete flex time so I don’t have a set schedule. I also have 24 hour on call shifts where I get woken up repeatedly, have to work really weird hours sometimes for example working for a couple hours here and there from midnight-2 or midnight to 4 or even 2-4, 2-6 etc. If you look at my chart you will see that although sometimes I have dotted CHs and open dots, you can see a discernable pattern on all my charts.

@Utopia4us:  Unfortunately for me I did realise that time of the day temping makes a big difference. For example, when I charted last month , I was doing the “I’ll temp whenever I wake up approach”. DEFINITELY a lot less stressful, but on weekdays, that was normally at 8 am and my temp was on average 97.4. On weekends I wake up at 10-11 am (I know! it is one of the little joys I’m enjoying of not having a baby) and temp gets much higher.

This month that I temp at 5 am, tem is lower – on avg 97.2 and as long as I have a reading around 97.4 tomorrow again, FF will say I ovulated – meanning, if I temp’ed different times, FF wouldn’t have a clue of when I O as 97.4 tends to be my 8 am temp! πŸ™ boooooo

I’m considering temp’ing twice in the weekday before Ovulation and on weekdays (so 4 times/week), this could reduce the stress… And then once I think I’m around O time every day. What do you guys think?

@Utopia4us:  Thanks.  πŸ™‚ It was kind of a country/ vintage-y theme (as most seem to be nowadays LOL)

@proudcatlady:  When I wake up past 8am, I tend to temp, make a note, but then discard it. I will set my alarm if its around O to make sure that I have an accurrate temp, but usually I’ll just discard. OPKs are helpful as well for confirming O!  You could stop temping, and just use OPKs, but then you O 24-48 hours after a +, so your O date will be in question.
