@hoogirl05:  not sure when to start but best advice I can give you is go onto the TTC main board and on the top their are highlighted green posts that are always pinned at the top.

They tell you to start charting the first day of  your period so I would go with the first day of that brown spotting/whatever.

Also be aware that your cycles may be wonky for a while after coming of BCP.

I came off of the pill last month and I considered my first day taking the placebo as first day of my cycle (CD1) as that would be the time I would get a period (even though I never really had one). This actually worked really well for me as the timing for the rest of my cycle was spot on in terms of ovulation date (Day 15), cycle length (29 days), and LP length (14 days). So I would suggest taking that approach and seeing how everything lines up!

By The Way, if you are wondering about when to start OPKs, I highly suggest starting on Day 10 and doing it twice a day (every 12 hours).

For a first cycle off the pill, you may even want to just go with a NTNP approach until you’re sure you’re actually ovulating again. All I did was take temps in the morning to see what my body was doing, and after a 42-day anovulatory cycle and a 56-day anovulatory cycle, I ovulated on the third cycle and BAM — pregnant! I just say this because I wonder if it’s worth the money/pressure on yourself to be doing OPKs when odds are good you won’t ovulate right away (though some people do!!). Congrats and good luck!!

I would just start charting now, making notes about your “symptoms” each day. The first cycle is always a mess but it will give you good practce at charting so you’ll be more adept when cycle 2 rolls around.
