You take you BBT every morning at about the same time, before you get up or do anything.  For example, I take mine at 5:45-6:00 every day.  This is the earliest I have to be up.  So I wake up, find my thermometer, and take my temp before anything else.

I would also use the ovulation tests.  They are great to give you a warning that O is coming.  After a positive OPK you are supossed to O 12-48 hours after the possitive OPK.

A lot of us on here use Fertility Friend to track our temps.

Also, a good read to helping you with charting is Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

If you have any questions you are welcome to come onto the Charters of the Hive board.

Fertility Friend has a charting course that you read through that will tell you everything you need to know. Good luck!

Is the Fertilaity friend course! It tells you everything. You MUST temp right after you wake up, before you move around or even get out of bed, after four hours of consecutive sleep. Otherwise you won’t see a pattern

(1) Taking Charge of Your Fertility (buy it now 🙂

(2) Fertility Friend!

(3) Take your temp first thing upon waking, within 30 minutes of the same time every morning for highest accuracy. Should be after at least 3-4 hours of continuous sleep and before moving around much/getting up/walking around. Takes a couple months of temping to solidly identify your patterns  so I’m with PPs who suggest OPKs.

(4) Basal thermometer that ideally takes temp to the hundredths. Consider if you prefer or dislike one that beeps continuously (will wake up your partner but also can keep you from falling asleep if early), lights up, has memory, etc. I personally don’t think any bells or whistles are necessary, but I don’t have trouble staying awake and record immediately in FF. Best of luck!!
