I would say go ahead and start. You can get used to the process. The data might not be accurate as your cycle regulates, but can’t hurt to have info. Start Day 1, the day your period starts. OPKs are great! Go ahead and use them. You can track cervical mucous too.

Read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It explains everything, super well.

A lot of ladies use the Fertility Friend app, as well. I do, and it’s a lot more convenient than using the paper chart from the book.

Lastly, BBTs are not expensive. Get one and start taking your temp every day at the same time! Soon it will be second nature to do so. :}

Start whenever you are ready! The first day of your period is the first day of a new chart. If you use Fertility Friend it will do all the work for you, just plug in the numbers. It might take a few cycles to see your temp patterns and figure out when you’re ovulating, using OPKs in conjunction with charting can certainly be helpful but is not totally necessary if you don’t want to keep peeing on sticks 🙂

Hi Guys first time on this board, have a charting Q also, can you tell from my chart (attached) that I have ovulated? I am in the 3dpo stage so going to continue taking my temps but not certain they are great (first week temping and it is hard to not do anything before using thermometer especially if OH wakes you an hour earlier and you cant sleep any longer….). Appreciate your thoughts….

kitten20142014:  Given that you’ve done OPK tests and recorded a postive result I would say yes. It fits with the dip in temp and then the rise.

Thanks Verania, I have struggled with temping so pleased that you can see a pattern. Think I will only chart for a week each month as too stressful and dont sleep well which is not conducive to conception lol….at 8dpo now so in 2WW, keep getting tender breasts and veiny with various cramps but trying not to symptom spot….
