So I’m in my first month of charting, I’m working my way through TCOYF and am using the FF app. I know it says that you need at least 4 hours sleep before temping, and that you should temp when you first wake up. What if you wake up throughout the night. I usually go to bed around 11, I wake up briefly at 3, 4 and 6 and my alarm is set for 7. I’ve been tending to chart when I sort of wake up at 6, because I don’t think I’ll really fall back asleep before my alarm goes off. But last night I took my temp when I woke up at 4 because I actually needed to go pee, and I know too much movement is a no-no. Now the FF app is saying that temperature may not be valid.
Should I just stick to taking my temp around 6 if I wake up, or at 7 when my alarm goes off if I don’t?

I would just stick with 6am if you always wake up then. Set an alarm for then. OR if you think you can sleep through it then just temp at 7. Personally I have mine set for 6 because I know I’m not going to wake up before then (even when waking up for various things) If I get to sleep in that day I just take the temp at 6, go back to bed and then read the temp (from the memory of the thermometer) when I wake up.
ps: are you waking up at 3/4 to pee? or what? from what I’ve read a brief inturruption like that should be fine (the book says for breast feeding or tending to a child quickly as an example)

@Woodstock: Just waking up because it’s what my body likes to do. I check out the time, curse at waking up, and go back to sleep. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes it doesn’t.
I’m wary of setting an alarm for that early, because my poor hubby sometimes can’t fall back asleep after the beeping of the thermometer 🙁
I’m just more trying to figure out if I should temp when I first have any sign of consciousness, or when I usually “wake” up and just sort of snooze until my alarm actually goes off.
I also realized after I made my post that there was a similar one further down (I tried search for charting and didn’t see anything in the first couple of pages).

I am never able to temp at the same time. My body just doesn’t like to cooperate and I have shift work as well. I temp when I wake up for the first time after at least 3 hours of solid sleep.
