In our research we found that Mexico was the most inexpensive location. We opted for Playa del Carmen but Cancun is very reasonable.

We loved our location and wouldn’t have done it any differently if given the chance.

Check out Bestdestinationwedding.com, it’s a great site with lots of info.

i second that website superkate recommended.

i also was in the same situation as you where i wanted a nice, but affordable resort for my wedding. i was able to pull that off at Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  They also have  a sister resort in Ochos Rios called Sunset Jamaica Grande. basically a budget, all inclusive resort with everything you need (just not ultra fancy like the 5 stars) and with a great wedding department!

I think one of the biggest considerations when looking for inexpensive destination wedding is time of year! Take it from me…getting married in March will be very expensive. Go in the off season and you will get much better rates.

@dynamic_duo:

They have also got another sister resort in Negril Jamaica, where they do weddings, Sunset at the Palms.

@Cash000:  ya i know about that one too, but it is not much cheaper than the other resorts!  otherwise i might have done my wedding there.

@PuntaCanaBride:  i second this, another reason we did our wedding in April was time of year rates – march and beginning of April is expensive due to spring break vacations.

@dynamic_duo:

Oooh ok. Thats where we are having ours.

To the OP, the Sunset resorts have got great deals, and it is super easy to get married in Jamaica too.

@Cash000:  oooh so nice that u are having your wedding there!   sometimes i wish i did my wedding there and splurged on it.  it was cheaper than other resorts in Negril, but about the same price as the higher star resorts in Montego Bay and Ochos Rios.

Yeah it isn’t really cheaper, from what we found.. or maybe we just didn’t compare? My fiance just loves it for the setting, and even though it isn’t directly on the beach, he has always wanted to stay in a boutiquey place rather than a highrise. I could have went either way really. The one in Montego Bay is actually really nice!

@Cash000: i agree it is totally nice in MoBay, my only regret is that the actual beach there was kind of small and for that reason i wish we splurged more for a resort with a nicer beach! i would have thought that the beaches were equally nice and i didnt care if the resort was 3.5 versus 5 star. the resort and service at Sunset Beach was amazing., not fancy and frilly, but good food, nice rooms, nice grounds and great service!  my ONLY complaint was the beach  🙁

So I am totally late to this party but what we found is you want to go at the end of the off season. We went in December, 2 weeks before the end of the off season and O.M.G. it was great. The weather was perfect and there were hardly any people around.

Also we looked at a LOT of locations from Alaska to Italy and we ended up choosing the Riviera Maya, MX. Mexico and the Dominican Republic are where you will get the most bang for your buck but with MX you have a lot more variety. I would highly recommend the Riviera Maya. It. Was. Amazing. =)

We found a place in jamaica (breezes runaway bay) the wedding is included, the fees are all waved because weve booked 10 rooms. and me and my hubby get to stay for free also because of the 10 rooms!! make sure you ask the travel agent for deals!!

Thank you for starting this thread!  We’re going in March – right in the middle of the high season =(  Unfortunately due to school and spring break scheduling.  We’re going to the U.S.V.I.   More than likely St. John or St. Thomas because we don’t have to get passports, whereas St. Croix you have to.  We just decided this week that we were going to be doing a Weddingmoon, Destination Wedding, instead of just the honeymoon.
