harleybaby : If every time you posted in a public forum you requested donations, I’m not surprised that you were judged. A move like that is pretty judge-worthy, whether you realize it or not.

Life is unfair. People all around you are struggling with issues and working through disability so that they can have a life, not a party. Adjust your needs vs your wants. You sound entitled, and entitled people often have the two confused.

This is why my charity funds go to animals. All they want to do is survive. They are pure beings. If someone told a starving dog he could have a can of dog food now or wait and beg people for a possible steak dinner in the future, the dog would take the food every time.

Bring on the hate posts about how mean I am. I’ll read them for laughs after my stint at the shelter. God knows I can use some laughs after that.

If your $3k budget is months of savings for you, you need to be more realistic. My dress was our biggest purchase, and it was $320. It’s beautiful and I got it at a local place that makes quince and prom dresses.

Im not being mean, but I wanted a $10k wedding in this beautiful 1920s hotel in my city, Art Deco everything, just as much as I could get that’s what I WANTED.

we spent $400 on our In the park elopement. I’ll get the party I want eventually. Our 5 year anniversary/Vow renewal is gonna look amazing. ( or sooner if we reach our budget quicker)

Our most expensive things – reception food and drinks, dress and suit and shoes inc alterations, photographer. If not for these our wedding would’ve been under $5k. Since you already have dress and photographer, makes it a lot easier to do it for cheap if you can keep the food and drinks under control. If you can find a big backyard, it’ll be cheaper, get a good caterer and also buy your own booze in bulk. That’ll help keep the cost down. Though if you have 100 people, I can’t imagine you can stick to a $3k budget, that means it’s $30 per person for meals and drinks, that’s extremely cheap. Perhaps brunch or afternoon tea wedding?

sunburn :  I agree and always get a lot of crap from people that know I pretty much exclusively donate to animals….pretty sure it’s my money to do what I want with!!
