Mexico is always cheap…just not the best place to be right now. Fiance and I do a trip every spring and last year we went to the bahamas it was pretty cheap…we spent abou 800 per person but i would try and do all inclusive (we didnt! big mistake we spent so much money on food) but it was wonderful. we stayed at the wyndham resort and really liked it…i jsut checked priceline and for a week sun-sun from new orleans is 616 per person..(that is not all inclusive) but im sure you can find similar deals and that is way under budget. i did see an all inclusive hotel for 818 per person..

Also the year before that we did a key west/cozumel cruise! i love cruises, just not for my honeymoon…i dont want the schedule..dinner at this time, off the boat at this time…but any other trip cruises are so much fun. Good luck on your search! hope this helped!

I’m in this same boat. LOL. We just bought a house so us being practical minded people, I don’t want to spend a ton of money on a honeymoon, but I am really hoping for the beach. I’ve done quite a bit of research on Hawaii and you can actually get away with a decent trip for about three grand. Granted, you might not end up in the most lavish hotel, but I’ve found a pretty good deal. Check for deals on Web sites like travelzoo and of course orbitz, travelocity, cheapoair, etc. You can consolidate a lot of expenses that way.

Best of luck!!

Since youa re in New Orleans anyway, I would take a look at the Carnival Cruise Lines with stops in the carribean with the white sand and clear water.  You can get a suite cabin on the ship for as little as $600 per person depending on the cruise.  And that is all inclusive while you are on the boat.

Either that or buy a couple of plane tickets to an all inclusive resort and go that route.  The main difference being “all inclusive” on a boat does not include alcohol, at a resort it does.

I don’t really have any cheap beach ideas, but a way to save money: see if your credit card does rewards points. We are charging our monthly expenses (things like groceries) and then paying it off each month (*this is the key, so you don’t go crazy into CC debt!)  After we collect enough points, we are turning our points back into cash (visa gift card) to use on a vacation.  You would be surprised at how quickly it adds up!

@blondebride2: what about going to the Texas, Mississippi or Florida coasts? I think Key West would be gorgeous and I am sure you could stay within budget there….

I’ve done a little research and the Dominican Republic is pretty inexpensive…
