Try prom dresses and evening gowns.

Check out out places like Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Macy’s and ModCloth.

If you’re plus size,  the Kiyonna range is amazing. From what I’ve gathered, David’s bridal are stockists.

check out Lulus. They always have adorable long white dresses. I highly recommend you to order a few different dresses in 2 sizes. You can return the ones that don’t fit in 30 days. And if you return them in 6 days your don’t have to pay for the shipping.

Bhldn has super sales. Dresses go down to $150. Some dresses are around $250 before the sale.

David’s Bridal always has dresses on sale, sometimes as cheap as 40 bucks

What about something like rent the runway if it’s not super important to you to keep your dress forever?

I got my dress at David’s last minute, you can buy any sample they have in store, but they were ridiculously judgemental and unwilling to work with my $200 budget which I thought was insane considering they have a $99 sale like every other month.

A skirt and blouse combo can also be more affordable.

I didn’t name any brands in my earlier comment. Mori Lee, La Femme, Jovani, Rachel Allan, and Alyce Paris all have beautiful, white gowns at pretty inexpensive prices. You can see these at bestbridalprices.com and promdressshop.com.

Lots of wedding dress brands have bridesmaids dresses that come in white. A lot of them are beautiful, bridal and inexpensive. Mori Lee in particular has some beautiful bridesmaids gowns.

abbeylane64 :  Unique-Vintage.com  My dress was a white, eyelet lace swing dress for 72 bucks.  Right now the cheapest one they have that I’d consider “classy/wedding” is $56.  When I got engaged, I ordered 3 dresses from them, tried them all, shipped back the 2 that didn’t work for free.  That was two years ago but they probably have the same policy.  Or if you happen to be in LA, they’re nearby.

Etsy and Ebay could be great sources for both new and used dresses for an affordable price. Personally, Ever-Pretty is my go-to for formal wear, and they sell wedding dresses as well…though really any white formal dress could be passed as a wedding dress. It’s definitely worth checking out their sale page, I found my bridemaid’s dress there…for $20, I was thrilled with it.

Consignment/thrift shops might have a selection…I often see wedding dresses in Goodwill, though they’re usually pretty dated, but you never know!
