The seasonal flowers for a September wedding are hydrangeas, dahlias, phlox, stock, roses, gerberas. What is your color scheme, I can send you some pictures on centerpieces and bouquets.

I also have a Sept date, so I’d love to see what other people suggest…

 I worked for a florist for a little bit and filler flowers in general are widely available, pretty cheap and come in a variety of colors.  To name a few: alstromeria, daisies, any kind of mum (spider / button / regular), carnations, ect..  Also you might want to think about using spray roses instead of the larger ones if you’re really concerned about cost.  One last thought…hydrangeas are in season in September and can stand alone if need be b/c they are so full.

I second the mum idea- they are in season in the fall- but they are cheap year round and come in a wide variety of shapes and colors.
