I need help finding cheap cylinder vases and floating candles. I’d like to do two different vase heights (between 7″ and 10″) and Dollar Tree had good ones but now they only have one size. :[ Are thrift stores and craigslist my best bet?
Where did you purchase your vases and floating candles?

I got my floating candle holders from http://www.vasesource.com/ . They had the best prices I found, and their customer service was incredible. They gave me free shipping even though I’m technically out of range and one of the boxes had a broken vase in it, they shipped me a new one out the next day no questions asked.
Btw: I ordered the candle holders by case in 12″ 16″ and 20″

Have you looked at Michaels/Jo Ann/AC Moore at all? They put out 40% off a single item, and sometimes 50% off a single item. I bought all my centerpiece vases this way (FI and I each bought one, then would go buy another).
My floating candles came from http://www.save-on-crafts.com – the ones at Michaels were too small and barely lasted 2 hours.
I actually found some of the vases I wanted at Walmart for pretty cheap too.

Dollar Tree baby………Dollar Tree.
Don’t pay these folks $4-10 for what you can get at dollar tree for a buck–and they look just fine!
You can also get some GOOD floating candles (there are some that don’t exactly float!!!) at orientaltrading.com.
Sign up for their email list and you’ll get emails on free shipping too.

I think I got my floating candles at save-on-crafts.com. They had a pack of 40 white round 2.5″ candles for $12 (not kidding)!!!!
Cylinder vases, get at the dollar store or dollar store online as some have said. Even if they don’t have the exact ones you want right now, they always come back into stock and you’ve got time to wait. If you’re looking for something other than cylinder vases (ie, floating candle bowls), save-on-crafts is again your best bet. =)

You can also get floating candles at IKEA if you have one nearby you.

I bought all of my floating candles from Hobby Lobby when they had a 50% off candles sale (keep your eye on the ads, it happens VERY often) and got them all for a dollar each!

I helped my FI’s cousin plan her wedding on a verry slim budget. She got her centerpieces from Dollar Tree. Not all Dollar Tree locations have the same products. Try travelling to all of the Dollar Trees in your area to see what they have. Sometimes, the stores have certain things in stock, then they don’t, then they do a couple of months later. It’s kind of hit-and-miss with Dollar Tree, but waaaay worth the value. Try their website, too.
My FI’s cousin didn’t use cylinder vases, she used glass bowls with floating candles, rose petals, and these colored crystals. For nine tables, she paid about $25 for centerpieces! They came out looking pretty nice!
Most other places I’ve looked at want at least $4 for a small cylinder vase. I’m not sure of your budget and how many tables you have, but that can get lofty.

@MrsKaySea: Vases can be purchased at Michaels, I know they are expensive but printout coupons from online sometimes they have the 50% off ones. Print varies take family members with you since its only premits one item per transaction per day.
Floating candles, type that in craigslist some sellers sell them for $1 each or 2 for $1 the only problem is that the wick is out however my husband replaced the wicks.
I am attempting to make some floating candles.
