The Addison Event Center is AWESOME.  We’re having ours there.  You really just cannot beat their dinner prices per head, and the venue rental fee is fairly minimal, too.  Moreover, Henry and Suzan, the owners, are absolutely fantastic to work with.  The outside of the building doesn’t look like much, but the inside is gorgeous, and the food I had at the tasting was delicious.  You also provide your own alcohol with them, which helps save money, too.  I have been incredibly pleased with their service so far, and I think they’re the best thing I’ve found since starting this whole wedding planning thing.  LOVE them.  They can fit up to 300 people, I believe.

Blue Mesa is catering our wedding and they’ve also been incredibly amazing to work with. Their presentation and interesting flavors make the menu seem ALOT more expensive than it actually is…I’d highly recommend it.

@highwire:  We’re actually going to go to Blue Mesa for our day-after brunch.  It’s quite tasty!

 @accorn:  What sort of price range and atmosphere are you looking for?  How many people do you need to fit?

@accorn: This one is a slightly more unique option, but have you looked at Zituna Banquet Hall in Richardson?  It’s absolutely gorgeous and incredibly reasonably priced.  It’s owned by a Moroccan woman, and the decor in the entry hall does lean toward her roots.  It’s connected to a Moroccan restaurant, too, which will do really cheap catering.  The food isn’t too exotic, either, if that’s a worry.  We seriously considered Zituna but eventually decided we liked the Addison Event Center better.

Since you’re having a June wedding, you could also look into doing it at a park and renting a tent; perhaps that would be somewhat reasonable in cost?  I’ve heard that rentals can get pricey, but perhaps you could swing it.

@accorn:  Great.  Keep me updated!

And probably a good idea about the heat.  FI’s cousin got married outside in Austin in June, and the bride’s grandmother passed out from the heat and had to leave in an ambulance almost immediately after the bride and groom left.
