Hello Bee’s. Planning for our May 2013 wedding is in full force. So far we have been VERY lucky with our planning. I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions for plates. Is there anywhere you can buy Ivory plating for cheaper than renting? What about glasses? Lastly, how about linens? We went to a renting company yesterday and so far most of our budget is going into them and I’m trying to see if I can get any of it cheaper so we can get the photographer we REALLY want. Thanks so much!

Have you booked your venue yet? A lot of venues include the dishes and linens, etc in the price.

Depends, how much are they charging for rentals?
We’re doing a vintage style wedding, so we bought all our plates (ivory & white) from thrift shops for $.25-.50/each. That works for us, because mis matched is ok, but may not work for others.
The Dollar Tree sells ivory plates for $1/each.
You can get some glassware from ikea for very cheap.
Just depends what you’re looking for.

It is often less expensive in the long run to puchase your linens, then sell them after the wedding. You might be lucky enough to find the linens you want on craigslist.
You can search all craigslist sites at the same time by going to http://www.google.com
enter site:craigslist.org then add what you are looking for
e.g site:craigslist.org brown round tablecloths

My venue is at a private location of a family friend so there is nothing included..just the barn for the ceremony and reception. Linen’s are 12 bucks a pop to rent..for 15 tables. That’s just for the main dining tables..nto including head table, cake table, etc

Check craigslist as I suggested above- you can buy linens for $8-$10 and sell them after for almost the same price.

tableclothsfactory.com are really cheap! I am selling my chair covers now for about the same price I paid for them!
I don’t know what your theme is, but it might be cute to have a little different dishes on each table. You could probably by random sets cheap on Craig’s list, then sell them after. You would get the side plates and coffee mugs then too.
Dollarama was my best friend through planning!

I purchased all of my linens through linentablecloth.com. They were the cheapest I could find and they post a coupon code on Facebook every month that you can use to get 10% off if you like them on fb. I only watched the site for about two weeks and both weeks they had deals on Thurs/Fri for something. I found great chair sashes and cloth napkins for really cheap in their clearance section – I was very happy with the quality when I received it too!
