So we are purchasing all of our alcohol for our wedding. Yeah. It’s a big task. And a fun task, too 🙂
Anyway, I’m trying to figure out where the best place to buy wine. We have the beer covered and are otherwise doing a water and soda bar. So wine is really where I’m stuck.
We were thinking a white wine, a red wine, and a sparkling wine and/or champagne. We aren’t picky on brand/type/etc. We would need about 5 cases of each type though that could change — that’s just based on my rough estimates right now and need to do further research before determining the exact number/order.
As far as the wine, I am really mostly concerned about price and return policy in case we don’t drink it all so we can get some money back and aren’t stuck with cases of wine (though that would make for an interesting brunch the next day…).
Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance, bees!

We did the two buck chuck from trader Joes and people loved it and for $2.99 a bottle it a great deal.

@tksjewelry: holy moly how have I never heard of this?! That is amazingly cheap and I love TJ’s!!! I googled it and see they raised the price to $2.49 but that’s still dirt cheap! Thanks so much for the tip!!!

We got wine from Costco, it was around $12 a bottle and people enjoyed it. If you’re near a Bevmo, they should be great too. As for return policy, check if there are wine wholesalers near you. They often have a return policy for bottles of unopened wine.

I think it depends on what quality of wine you want… we’re getting a lot of ours from local wineries/ thought different wine club memberships that we have and getting it for about half of the shelf cost.
However, if you just want something really inexpensive but still pretty decent, I second the previously made suggestion of Trader Joe’s two buck chuck. Buy a bottle of each type to taste before you commit to cases 😉

There is two buck chuck, and that is an option. I will disclose this though: If you have anyone at your wedding who is into wine, they will know though that it is super inexpensive! I used to not notice until I started going wine tasting, and now in some ways I’m ruined! I can’t go back to two buck chuck!
You could check out bevmo if you are looking for a good deal. Sometimes they essentially have buy one get one free deals.

@Skittles131: our coordinator has recommended for us to either go to Costco( they will allow returns) or total

Im getting all of my wine from Costco. I actually went their yesterday, wrote down everything they had under 10 bucks, then went home and googled each one. Of course some were crap, but I found a couple winner for $6-7 each.
Another good option is bevmo 5 cent sale. But again, make sure you try the wine of research before you buy tons of cases of gross wine.
