I have been searching high and low for faux fiddlehead ferns to put in my bouquet, with no luck, so I decied to make my own. I made polymer clay fiddlehead ferns this morning in about 15 minutes, plues 15 minutes of baking time! I was so dang proud of them I had to share.
I blended equal parts of chocolate and black Sculpey III clay, rolled it out into a 1/4″ thick long spaghetti-looking piece, then curled the end into about a 1″ diameter curl and baked it on an old pan for 15 minutes. They turned out awesome, still a litle pliable so they won’t break, but definitely hard enough to hold! This is my first time using polymer clay, so I’m pretty darn excited! 😀
Please excuse the lumps! 🙂

Thanks gals! I think with the next batch I need to open up the curl a little bit to make them more realistic, but I seriously doubt if anyone is going to be saying “Those are so fake, the curl is all wrong.” ha!
