Took my ebay bought sapphire engagement ring into the jewellers to get it looked at and resized today. Since it was bought on Ebay I thought I would get her to verify that the centre stone is in fact a sapphire and not something else. On Ebay you can never be %100 sure. She told me that it looked like a sapphire to her eye but she could not test it and it would cost me £20 to have it sent away and double checked. She also told me it was fine in an ultrasonic cleaner. Should I get it sent away? Do some jewellers test in store? And what do you guys advice in terms of long term maintenence?
Any suggestions?

Yipeebee: I personally wouldn’t send it away. I would go to another local jeweler who can test there. Many jewelers test in their shop.

TrueLove407: Thanks, I hoped some would! When DH has time off we will be going into the city soon. We will try some bigger places there.

I would not sent it away unless it was a company I know and trust! (they may change the stone)..
Find a jeweler that test the stone locally (there are some that do that). Its a very lovely ring btw!

I’m sure you can find another jeweler to test it in their store.
