Hi bees! I was looking for personal opinions on a matter:
My wonderful SO has to work all day tomorrow (poor guy!), but that will leave me home all day and with nothing much to do! I was wondering if going to maybe check out a few local bridal shops would be a no-no since I don’t have a ring yet (hopefully soon though!)
I would be going to check out what they offer locally as far as designers, options, shoes, bridesmaid dresses, etc. Just so when the time does come (I’ve been getting hints that it will be coming soon!), I’ll know where and where not I want to do some trying of dresses on. I will NOT be trying on dresses fyi lol, just looking.
I wouldn’t want to tell my SO that I’m going to Bridal shops, since this might make him feel pressured or make me seem weird lol and I know he will ask where I’m going when I say I’m going out shopping.
Sooo, the question is, should I skip the curious shopping/looking trip, or should I maybe bend the truth a little and go? I’m sure my SO, if he did find out where I was, would laugh, or think that I’m silly for trying to hide it and wouldn’t be upset at all, but I just don’t want to make him feel like I’m putting the pressure on him to propose. I just like to do some searching in the meantime… lol. IS THAT SO BAD? lol

Sweetheart… I say go, have fun and live a little… No need to share with him just incase it might put the pressure on. It’s your free day do what you want to do and trust me a small head start will help you in the long run cause once you’re engaged the time will fly.

It would be hard to look at dresses at some stores. The place where I got my dress really doesn’t like you touching their dresses. You tell them what you like and they pull all the dresses for you.
If it were me, I would stick to shopping with a friend who was engaged, looking at pics online or in magazines and looking at local store websites to see what they carry. If you do decide to go shopping, just be careful to go to stores where you’ll be welcomed for now.

I would wait. Part of the excitement of getting engaged is going and looking at dresses.

@AB Bride: The main part is not really going to look at dresses, but just see if a local shop would offer the same options and designers that traveling to a larger city would. I am trying to decide if I should go to a David’s Bridal (45 mins away), or if I would be just as happy staying local. And these local shops are little. We are from a small town and these places don’t have websites lol.
Also, @villeroy I would never seriously go looking or trying on dresses without my mother, and she has sadly, just recently, moved across the country. So when the time does come to look for a dress, and she flys out here for a few days, I want to be able to bring her to a bridal shop and not waste any of her time, since it will be limited. Get where I am coming from? Do you still feel the same way?

The only reason I would wait is because they will all be asking you about when your wedding date is, when you got engaged, how he proposed, wedding party, wedding colors, etc. I would personally feel uncomfortable. But, that is just me. So, if you want to go, then I think you should go enjoy yourself…just be prepared.
