So my fiancee is Japanese and I thought it would be really great to have a cherry blossom themed wedding. However, I understand that it is really hard to get cherry blossoms being that they only bloom for about 2 weeks. My wedding is in June. How else can I incorporate a cherry blossom theme without having them as my centerpieces or is it not possible because of the other flowers I will then choose???!

Print cherry blossoms on everything paper! The invitations, the napkins, ect. They are super elegant and I’ve always really loved them.

My fiance really loves “dead trees” whereas I like “coming back to life trees”. Basically, he likes bare trees in winter, I like bare trees in spring.
So, we’re using a few cherry blossom themes to tie in that love. While we probably won’t have actual cherry blossoms, I have a cherry blossom stamp that I’m stamping on the paper products (and then embossing it on some) as well as some of the centerpieces. I would really like a cherry blossom stencil, but cannot for the life of me find one. We’re also tying in the branch theme with a Wish Tree.
Perhaps some faux cherry blossoms? Or get some branches and sprinkle them with fake flowers? So it’s not an actual cherry blossom, but it’s in the same vein of branches with pretty flowers on them.

i was thinking of just doing cherry blossom everything such as flower girl baskets, invitations, programs, table cards, etc. but I have fallen in love with Calla Lilies lisianthus and I feel as if I use the cherry blossoms I cant do both. My Fiance said I should just do what I want to but I feel like with just the Calla lilies and lisianthus then I dont really have a theme.. grr I wish this wasnt so difficult =P

You’ve got a while to think and collect inspiration from pictures and magazines. You could always use cherry blossoms for your stationery and cake, have a calla lily bouquet and lisianthus in your decor. If your color scheme allows for all of that, of course.

You could hang artificial cherry blossom branches from the ceiling 9so they hang horizontally) over the dance floor area or over the ceremony area- whichever would work best
That way you can use your other flowers elsewhere.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: I agree; use printed/images of cherry blossoms on whatever you like, and save the calla lilies and lisianthus (which are much easier to get!) for your bouquet, decor, etc. If you like, you could always get some artificial cherry blossoms to put amongst the real (I assume; you could just as easily use silk or other artificials) flowers as well.

Other blossoming branches, if there are many available in June, might create a similar effect.
My centerpieces (4/2/11) were cherry blossom branches. Unfortunately, they had more buds than blossoms, but the effect was still nice.
Ignorant question…would cherry blossoms in June seem to Japanese folks a little like pumpkins or pointsettias in June might look to Americans?
