Before you get on me to see a doctor, a little back story.
I’m 25, in okay health (cleared my physical with flying colours in December), no weird medical history aside from a heart murmur, but everyone in my family has it and I’ve been told not to worry about it. I’ve been working out fairly regularly for about a year, but upped the ante in January and started doing some more difficult cardio classes (interspersed with yoga).
At the end of January, in the middle of one of these cardio classes, my chest started hurting pretty bad. I figured if I was going to drop dead, in the class with a trained professional was my best bet, so I stuck out the class. My chest was sore for a few days after, but I did yoga and was fine. That Friday (chest pain started Tuesday night) I went to a walk-in clinic (because my doctor is kind of a jerk and is difficult to get a hold of) and talked to the doc there. She checked me out, listened to my chest and cleared me for my lungs and heart. She said it was probably an inflamed muscle but otherwise I sounded fine inside.
The following month has been hit or miss. Occasionally my chest hurts when I am literally doing nothing at work, so I thought it was maybe my posture. For days it won’t bother me at all and then out of the blue, the paaaain of all pains. I’ve been popping Advil when it gets really bothersome.
So now it’s been over a month and I just got back from a cardio class. Near the end of the class, when I thought I was relatively cooled down, the pain came back full force, searing down the centre of my chest. I seriously thought I was going to faint, and began getting super anxious. I stuck with the class and took it easy, but it was really hard, I just wanted to go lie down on the floor somewhere.
The pain is gone now and I’m just feeling mildly uncomfortable, a lot of which I think is anxiety related.
SO! I’m going to the same doctor tomorrow to be like “What’s up, it still hurts” BUT has anyone else ever been diagnosed the same or pulled a chest muscle and felt like this? I had my hesitations when she told me her thoughts, but I’m also a crazy hypochondriac.
Oh, and it hurts during yoga too so that – coupled with at-work-sitting-at-desk-pain – leads me to believe it’s not related to my heart rate.
P.S. I’m also posting on here because I don’t want to get a case of Googleitis, which my fingers are itching to do!
