lol because they are pretty… it’s like shoes that look amazing, but aren’t very comfortable… for some weddings, they just complete that look.

Oh I totally disagree… they were worth every penny of the $8 rental to me.  As you said.. you don’t sit in them for very long any way, so comfort wasn’t that important.  And there are very few comfortable chairs out there that work in a ballroom setting.  So it’s really about the look and I loooooved the way they made my wedding look.  BUT.. if the money isn’t in the budget I do think expensive chairs are an easy and smart thing to cut.  But if you can afford it I have to say it was worth it to me.

go with whatever options you like best! chiavari chairs tend to be the standard, but I’m sure you can regular folding chairs and add sashes or covers to pretty them up and still come in at way less than $9/a pop.

My venue comes with the chairs.  But after your review, if it didnt come with the chairs I wouldnt rent them.

I’m not using them because of money and my belief that my guests wont care/notice. However I can totally understand how they are worth it to some people. They can add such a touch of elegance. For me this was the easiest option to go without. I was able to add an extra hour of food/drink/reception time for the price that it would have cost me to have the chairs. SOO worth it in my opinion.

I was so unconcerned about renting fancy chairs! We used the chairs provided by my venue and they were fine. I’m sure it would have looked a little nicer with the chivari chairs, but in my region they are $14/chair for the rental so it was out of the quesiton. in fact we didn’t upgrade anything at all, the only decor we paid for were the flowers.

People surely don’t rent them for their comfort, they rent them for their pretty looks, lol.  We had them & I loved them, but they aren’t for everyone and that’s okay too.

our venue came with chairs. i looove the look of chiavari chairs, but it so was NOT worth it since we already had perfectly fine looking, and much more comfortable, chairs. if i had to rent chairs in the first place, i may have opted for them, but for me it was just so unnecessary

I rented my Chiavari chairs for $6.50 each. My rental company made a mistake and didn’t send any pads for the chairs, and instantly I was really worried because I had heard how uncomfortable they are even with the pads. Honestly though, they were totally fine. I wasn’t uncomfortable at all, and I asked around and no one else thought they were uncomfortable either. So two thumbs up from my experience 🙂

I was shocked at how un-sturdy they felt! For a chair that costs extra a lot of times, I can’t believe that they are wobbly. No thanks!!

I respectfully disagree. I think that if the reason one isn’t rent the chairs is because of budget constraints, then that is a perfectly good reason – but if you can afford them, they really do complete the look. We had “regular” brown chairs for our ceremony and silver for our reception and IMO they added to the feel we were trying to create.

Aw man!  I totally want them because my venue only comes with the wooden white folding chairs which would look kind of goofy with my gold and champagne candlelight ceremony and reception, whereas the gold chivari chairs would look PERFECT.

I’m waiting to see how much they’ll be before I make my final decision, though. Our tasting is this Saturday, when we’ll find out.  🙁
