Like you, I don’t remember what any of the chairs were like that I’ve sat on weddings! I’ve seen them for rent usually about $8 and at least 200 guests…that’s $1,600 you could spend on much things!

I’m in Phoenix and they rent for $8 -$9 each.

Fiance and my parents think I’m crazy, but I’m definitely renting them.

I’m in Maryland and I think I was told $7-$8 for chiavari chairs.  But I remember stumbling on this site when I was researching and being bummed that they were in CA because their prices were so low – looks like $4.95/each?  http://www.apextentandparty.com/

Here in Toronto, I was quoted $10.  They look nice, but I sat in one a few weeks ago at a bridal show, and they were pretty uncomfortable.

The chivari chairs are $8-9 dollars everywhere I have looked for reception rentals in my area. Personally I think the garden chairs like these ones below are just as comfortable but obviously less expensive. Rentals really add up so I agree with your family that no one will necessarily remember the chairs. 🙂

In Michigan (Metro Detroit Area) they rent for abouy $6-$8 a chair. I love the look of them but can’t justify the expense of them. And I totally agree that I don’t remember one chair I sat on at any wedding I have ever been to! lol!

@jessicaashley:  We rented these garden chairs for about $2/chair and I don’t regret it at all.

I couldn’t justify a $7.50/chair cost for 175 chairs…over $1K for chairs was insane to me. And honestly, people’s butts are going to be covering them all night – I honestly couldn’t tell you a thing about any chair at any wedding I’ve ever been to except my own, and that’s only because I have pictures!

@arabesque:  They are 7.75 by us, but I’m still considering them. I loveeee the way they look and the chairs at our site are henious. So its either cover or rent. I really prefer the look of the chiavari, but don’t know if i can justify the cost. So right there with you.

Ours are $9 a chair in Chicago.  The other option is a hideous hotel looking chair and I refuse to use covers.  So paying for the chiavaris it is.  It’s funny, I used to hate the look but I’ve seen it so often with all the wedding planning now that it just looks “right”.  I’m quite sure they are uncomfortable but oh well.  Hopefully it will just encourage people to get up and dance.

I just placed an order with a company called Fusion Linens, mine are about five dollars a chair…….they are in Orange County, Ca.
