I’m doing sequin on our sweetheart table and the cake table. I have a friend who went to a wedding with sequins and she ended up with a big rash on her knees from it… NOT pretty in the photos of everyone dancing… YIKES

@bossypants:  I choose chiavari chairs over sequined linens any day. I actually have never seen sequined linens and have never been to a wedding where they used them, so I googled it. I personally think they look tacky and cheap. That’s just me though, no hard feelings to anyone who used them. Maybe if I see them in person, I’ll change my mind? I would also think the sequins might ruin some of the guests’ clothing.

We are using chiavari chairs at our wedding. I really don’t like the look of chair covers, so that won’t be an option for us. Chiavari chairs look so elegant! Fiancé and I sat on them at our food tasting, and they were so comfortable. We sat on them for quite a while and had no complaints. The comfy cushions really helped!

I’ve been an event planner for over 30 years.  I hate chiavari chairs.  They are rickety and uncomfortable.  I don’t even find them pretty.  I’d go with the sequins any day – makes SUCH an impact!   I’m still debating getting some for my daughter’s wedding, but she’s steering me against them because of the cost.

@bossypants:  Why not both??? We chewed our venue down on the chairs and a few other things because we are spending soooooooooo much…(atleast I think so), but they came down on the chair price!

@DanielleI:  Oh no, sorry, they were rentals from LaTavola.  And they were beautiful.  They were made from actual flat sequins.  Not shiney dots or curved sequins.  They definitely made an impact for the money although they were not cheap.

@bridetobee16:  If you haven’t seen them in person, maybe you shouldn’t judge.  No hard feelings.

@pinkksnow:  Sure. Well I actually saw them today in person for the first time at a bridal show. In MY opinion, they look even worse in person. To me, they don’t look elegant at all. But that’s just my honest opinion. OP asked which one I would choose, and I answered and gave reasons why I’d choose chiavari chairs.  If you like sequined linens, good for you. Not everyone will have the same taste. To each their own. I certainly don’t mind if someone else doesn’t like what I like.

@bridetobee16:  It is my understanding that you are not allowed to say something is “tacky” on this site.  Especially if you admittedly have not seen it.  Even seeing some today may not be like the ones I have that are not “tacky and cheap.”

I’m doing full sequin linens from La Tavola on my sweetheart table and a couple tables during the night. Sequin table runners will be used on all the rectangular tables I’m renting. I felt they’d be weird on round tables. I prefer sparkle but chiviari chairs are more elegant. Fiance didn’t like the chairs because he thought they were uncomfortable. Overall doing the linens costs less for us than the chairs which is why I picked them.

@pinkksnow:  I was not aware of the rule about not being able to say the word “tacky” on here. I’ll keep that in mind for my future posts and won’t say it again.

I really have nothing against people who used or will use sequined linens. I saw so many different kind of those linens at the show, and I really didn’t like any of them. That’s the truth. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My only concern here is to try to help the OP with their questions. I’m not going to call out anyone who has a different taste from me, so please just let me be and let’s go on with our lives. Thanks.
