If you’re thinking of J.Crew for your dresses, the Michigan Ave. store has samples that you can try on. You have to make an appointment, but it was nice to see/feel the dresses before deciding on a style.

Hi there, i went with one of my bridesmaids to Bella Bridesmaid and the House of Brides Couture in chicago. Both had a LOT of good options. Bella’s dresses are super pricey, but the staff was very nice and we had a good time. HOB is great because they have an enormous selection, and if you don’t want to order right away they’re totally cool with it.

We wound up finding what we wanted at HOB but then ordered them through netbride and saved tons of money.

Good luck!!

Oh, and the Ann Taylor on Michigan Ave. carried bridesmaids dresses, too. They’re pretty and are nice quality, but my maids thought they were too expensive and we couldn’t find any good deals on them.

I have a few friends who have had great luck with Doris’ Bridal.  In one of the northern burbs.

I’ve been in a lot of weddings and paid for all my dresses except for one where the brides family paid 100 towards the cost of our dresses.

By the way- 2 of those weddings were the same Bridesmaid or Best Man dress, but I didn’t know b/c it was an out of town thing where I just had to send in my measurements.  I ordered 2 of the SAME dress!

Bella Birdesmaid has always been so sweet to me (weve been three times!!), and we will order the dresses from them- they have the Lula Kate line i LOVE! They are super pricey, though. Be prepared to spend around $300 a dress…

Bella Bridesmaid isn’t always that expensive!  We got Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses for a friend’s wedding there recently, they were Melissa Sweet dresses and I think we paid $180-ish each.  Still pricey, but not $300!  Be careful when choosing a size though, 1 girls dress won’t even zip and it was the size they recommended for her!

We got ours at Dimitra’s Bridal on Rush St. Their bridal gowns are very pricey but their bridesmaids dresses were surprisingly affordable – the cheapest of anywhere we looked. My girls paid $148 for their full-length ballgowns.

I got my girls’ dresses at Ann Taylor – as someone noted above, they are a little pricey (probably $170-$210) but I scored an amazing deal because of the sale they had going on when I bought them: something like, spend $200 get 20% off, spend $400 get 30% off, etc…

When it was all said and done, I got 40% off my dresses and opened an Ann Taylor card for an additional 15% off, and my dresses were: $96 each!

I would check it out to see if there are any styles you like, and then join their e-mail list so you are notified of sales. Good luck!

I went up to the city to meet up with my Maid/Matron of Honor and 2 BMs and we decided to go just out of the city.  My mom always says why buy things in Chicago and pay higher taxes, etc when you can get the same thing somewhere else.  We checked out Eva’s Bridal which didn’t take long to get to at all.  They had a very large selection of dresses, but the downside is they won’t let you take pictures of anything until you buy a dress.  So we were sneaking pictures in the dressing room when possible!

House of Brides in Schaumburg is nice.  My cousin let us choose our own dress, since our bodies types varied, it just had to be red and tea length and she wanted us to be able to wear it again.  Go figure we ended up choosing the same dress. We found reasonably priced dresses. Good Luck
