Fiance and I live in Chicago and both of us want a very simple civil ceremony. I just found out that the Cultural Center does marriage ceremonies on Saturday’s that you can reserve in advance. Then, I found this blog with some sweet photos:
What music will you be walking down to?
The room is gorgeous and there is enough seating for immediate family to attend! Had anyone looked into this option at the Cultural Center? I’m so excited about this idea!

The CCC is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city (FI and I are contemplating taking some wedding photos there even though we’re not getting married there). We did think about this option, followed by dinner with our close friends/family, but in the end we decided on a different option. I say go for it!

I looked into it, but we’re going to go with with a ceremony/reception in one venue instead.
I really liked the idea of the short (I heard its maybe 3-4 minutes long) civil ceremony, but wasn’t thrilled that you can’t confirm your date until 60 days before.

We got married twice – once at the cultural center and then again on that one year anniversary (the big shebang) **Insurance reasons, not to sound lame**
The Cultural Center was sooooo pretty and we went to Bennigan’s afterwards (our first date location)
The ceremony was super quick, but not too short for pictures and all that. I thought it was perfecto!

We’ve shot three weddings in the Culture Center, and all of them were very different. It’s a really beautiful location, but not all of the rooms have the best lighting in them. My advice is to stick to the Rotunda room!

My sister got married there last year. The room was beautiful and they let you take pictures throughout the building (which if you aren’t getting married there, requires a license and fee). The ceremony was very short, but still sweet; the judge clearly loves what he does.
Just a tip though (that my sister used)-book the last appointment of the day so you can stick around to take pictures, if not you may be rushed out or your guests will mix with the guests of the couple before/after you. And the waiting room takes awful pictures (because the floor has lights in it, so don’t stand near them or you’ll have funny shadows on your face).

I highly recommend this option – we also got married at the CCC before our destination wedding and it was FANTASTIC! Easy going and so much fun! Beautiful building and you can head across the street ot Millenium park to take pics!

I’ve read on the city of chicago website about having my civil wedding at the CCC building but it keep saying it’s on select Saturdays. Does anyone know is it every second Saturday or every other or what?!?!
Any advice would help.
Thanks in advance!

They are pretty random, IIRC. If you call, they’ll pick up the phone after about 20 rings and give you the schedule.

I’d love to get married here. I heard the appointments book up the same morning they become availiable. Does anyone know how fa in advance to show up to get a spot in line?
