The Omni is nice, but a lot of families stay there.. So if you wanted something more romantic, I’d think of a boutique hotel.

🙂 Sorry! I always type quickly on my phone so to do you justice, I made Fiance hand me power cord. It’s that kind of Friday..

Hotel 71, The James, Amalfi, Dana Hotel & Spa, The Wit, Palomar, Hotel Monaco are all excellent hotels downtown that aren’t “on the Mile” and therefore, have less families staying there.  I’d reccomment Dana or Palomar, personally. Gorgeous, amazing service, perfect for a honeymoon!

Not to toot my own horn but I designed the Wit Hotel and I think it would be a wonderful honeymoon destination!

I also agree that the Kimpton hotel (Monaco and Palomar) are also excellent.

We’ve stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel (yay for being tourists in our own city!) and it was really lovely. Check out the museums — go on their free days, and go early in the day before the masses are up!

My favorite restaurants in Chicago are Sushi Wabi (AMAZING sushi but pricey), the Chicago Diner (best vegetarian food on the planet), Big Star (best fish tacos and margs, but might not be open in October? It’s outdoors) and the Green Zebra (ridiculously expensive and delicious tapas).

If you guys want to go someplace fancy and secluded for drinks, go to the Violet Hour. And you should spend some time wandering around Wicker Park beforehand, checking out the scene 🙂

Can I tell you how awesome it is to have interior design fans? haha thanks ladies 🙂

And yes, I agree with PPs that this is your honeymoon – stay in the coolest place you can afford! Stay in something a little funky that you normally wouldn’t because your honeymoon hotel isn’t just some place to sleep for a night. The place where you are staying will have a lasting memory as part of the whole experience.

@enarr001:  Well I think that’s why you should check out the boutique hotels that were mentioned. They are luxurious but a little more edgy and attract a younger crowd so I think you’d feel more comfortable there. Omni is very nice but a bit stuffy.
