I’ve just started really looking at venues, last weekend I went to look at 4 venues 1 was cut right away another quickly also. We fell in love with the one venue however it’s over our budget and the last place is in our budget however we didn’t love the space. We have 7 more places to look at. Am I making this harder than it should be? I’m ultimately looking for a place thats not a traditional ballroom and has an out side for cocktail etc… I don’t want everything in the same place. Anyone have a suggestion on places to look into. We are also trying to keep it reasonable for around 160 people.

Is there a specific area of the city/suburbs you are looking? Do you have a price range? Can you tell us what the places you already plan on visiting are?

We are looking in the north/northwest suburbs We have looked at Kemper Lakes, Shores of Turtle Creek, Independance Grove (favorite but expensive), Chandlers. We are looking at Thunderhawk Golf course, Belvedere Banquets, Concorde, Venuti’s, Victoria’s. Possibly Schaumburg Marriott and Maggianos. I would like to stay around 10,000 for venue and less than a 1,000 for ceremony. We are open to Sundays we are looking at either 8/17/14 or 10/12/14
I’m just wondering if there is something that is more hidden or not obvious but really nice. I’m thinking of lookin into Emmetts also…

@Orchd12: I don’t have any ideas for you, I’m a bit brain dead and taking a break from work. But I have to say, Chandlers has some gorrgeous weddings.

We are getting married at Concorde next weekend.. Our bridal shower was at Venuti’s – and to be honest with you – ummm Venuti’s isnt all that they make it seem – the food wasnt as good as I expected it to be – the service – same thing.. not sure why they have such great reviews? maybe because it looks “fancy”
Other places we looked into:
European Crystal Banquets – very nice place! attended a few weddings here
Chateou Ritz – Niles IL – also very nice
