My fiance manages and operates two food trucks here in the city. They have done many a wedding. The specific places I can think of in the city limits that they’ve done are the Firehouse Chicago. Not sure if the sizing on that works for you, but I know he always comments how nice those weddings turn out.

Have you looked into the art institute? They were setting up for a wedding when we visited and there are always food trucks right outside.

Clairevivs :  The food truck he manages is The Fat Shallot – really good! They are doing a wedding at Ignite Studios this weekend. I asked him about venues and he said as long as they have a place to park, they can do a wedding. I know some venues have a preferred catering list, but they’ve done events at golf/country clubs, hotels, some of these more “warehouse” style venues, etc. I would just avoid looking at restaurants as venues since they likely make you use them for the food.

Clairevivs :  Its been my experience that your typical wedding venues will not allow this. I would look into park districts, forest preserves ect

You are really going to have to think outside the box here- I got married in the chicago  burbs ( as well as all my friends in family) the more traditional venues would absolutely not allow outside catering / or will have a set list of caterers ( some of which might be food trucks, but again, you will have to really reasearch here)

What I would reccomend you do is go to the food trucks first, and ask them what locations have allowed them to be vendors. Maybe they have already done a few weddings and can point you in the right direction

I do think the suggestions of reaching out to a food truck you’re interested in is a good idea. They will be able to tell you where they’ve done events at. My fiance does not remember those details like I want him to! 🙂 But they have done events in the city and outside of it, so venues that allow it do exist!

Then with their list you could start researching/reaching out to those particular places.

Clairevivs : Busee Woods might allow it,  But then you are stuck with an outdoor wedding…which I personally would never risk ( I swear the last few weddings I went to in the area, including my own, had rain)

You might have better luck with venues in MI, WI or IN?

I commend you for the idea, I just feel like it would be so incredibly hard to pull off lol!
