LOVED my Chicago photographer and he was $3,500 for 8 hours of 2 shooters plus an engagement shoot. He edits all photos and you have all rights. We hired him a while ago so I can’t promise his rates are the same but it’s timtabstudios.com if you want to check it out. They’re a husband and wife team and are fabulous to work with.

I paid $5800 for my michigan photographer. I’ve heard of cheaper options, but wasn’t able to find anyone I liked.

HBIC:  We live in a medium-large city on Michigan’s west coast. I booked my photographer last year, and then her packages ranged from $2900 (6 hours of single-shooter coverage and no engagement session) to $6000 (12 hours of coverage, second shooter, engagement session, and some prints and albums). I found her prices to be pretty middle of the road for the Michigan area — but she doesn’t charge travel fees for weddings in Chicago — so PM me if you’d like her website.

I’m on Michigan’s West Coast too, and most of the experienced good photographer costs around $3000 for full day, second shooter, CD with print rights, and engagement sessions. $3500 can get an album with that.

My photographer is in the Grand Rapids area. I am paying $1750 for 8 hours, 2 photographers, free engagement session (the engagement package was technically supposed to have 20 images…I got over 50), and 250+ wedding images on a flash drive (my e-pics were on a CD). I love her work…she did both my sister’s and my brother’s weddings.

I know she built a custom package for my sister based on what she wanted.

I can post her website if you want to message her for more info.

I’m paying $4800 for my photographer in Chicago. That includes 9 hours of wedding day coverage and an egagement session. It’s pricey but photography is worth spending the extra money. I cut money from my dress and decor budget because guests don’t remember that at all and it doesn’t affect their experience as much. Make photography a priority in your budget.

I had a friend who had a wonderful wedding. When it was all done, she wasn’t very impressed with her photos. She told me that her one regret was not spending a couple thousand dollars more to upgrade her photographer…

AmericanHoney121:  That’s how I feel, too. I also refuse to spend a lot on food. I know everyone always talks about that your guests want amazing food, but, honestly, I can’t remember what I ate at so-and-so’s wedding vs anyone else’s wedding. Food is eaten and gone. Music is played and ends. Pictures last forever.

Anywhere from $3500 + sounds right for high quality work.  You can definitely find photography at lower price points, but it won’t be anything to write home about….

Our Chicago photographer is about $5600 for 12 hours of coverage, a second shooter, retouching of all shots, high res digital negatives with full image rights, and the most beautiful album I’ve ever seen (which they hold a patent on, design-wise), and a parent album. The engagement shoot itself was included in the package (though there was a travel fee for our shoot location), but the prints/pictures were not, and cost us an extra $1500. And that was after an in-house discount, since we’re using them for the wedding, and an additional discount from the canvas/print vendor. For photographers that “include” an engagement shoot, you may want to make that distinction.
