I like fish but TBH, I know a lot of people who are very picky with fish and its preparation. I think chicken is more of a crowd pleaser.

I always pick a beef option. Went to one wedding where the choice was fish or chicken. I went with fish. I never pick chicken neither does fi.

@MissKit:  I would do a beef, especially if it’s a in a steak form (vs ground like meatloaf or something). I know a lot of men like ordering the red meat option when presented with both. I think I would go with beef and chicken if we are going with crowd pleasers.

That said, if you have all foodie friends, I think fish would be fine. It’s more of my limited palate/picky eater/meat and potatoes only kind of friends/acquaintances that don’t like fish or won’t eat red meat.

I’d pick beef over fish… most people like chicken so it’s great to have that option and a lot of people are fans of beef too.

Me personally? Beef and Fish 🙂 Although it sounds like your fiance is the one who wants the chicken, so I get it. Are we taling buffet or plated? Buffet fish is not that great, plated is delicious.

I just think chicken is usually bland and not good at weddings.

I do not like fish (especially Salmon) so I would get Chicken no matter what a lot of people love beef.

Fish is different and some people might really like it…

I voted chicken and beef though

@MissKit:  I think that beef or chicken would be the safest bet. Most people won’t order fish in my experience.

@MissKit:  beef definitely. Fish tends to be a less popular overall, and makes the room stink if served in large quantities.

I voted for chicken or fish because generally people who eat beef can eat chicken without a problem. But there are plenty of people who eat chicken who abstain from red meat for whatever reason. And there are yet more people who eat fish and vegetarian options, but avoid white and red meats. Chicken + Fish covers all your meat bases, imo. Your steak-loving uncle Charlie might prefer a steak if he has the option, but I’m sure he’d be just fine with a piece of chicken.

i guess it depends on your crowd.  many of my family and friends feel chicken is not special enough so i went with beef and fish.  i wanted to do duck but i know some people get weirded out with duck.  i don’t eat beef and i have to be in the mood for fish.  i love chicken and told my venue to give me the kids meal.  my venue director almost had a heart attack when i requested chicken fingers.  she had the chef make me (and another guest that was allergic to seafood and red meat) chicken marsala.  This was really above and beyond.  If I had to pick between beef or fish, I would go with beef.  I think a chef has to be really skilled to cook fish for a crowd and do it well.  Of course you can still screw up beef but I think the chances for screwing up fish is higher.  Have you done a tasting?  Maybe that will help you decide.  When we did our tasting, I thought every single item prepared by the chef at our venue was excellent and did not taste like banquet food at all.

This is hard for me because I always choose beef or fish. I usually go for fish, though, because it’s always been good at every wedding I’ve had it at.
